I was wondering what you guys do with your nav lights. We fish out of a 1850 cmv and the
anchor light is like a street lamp if running crome or gold blades I can see em a ways out just
wondering if it matters or if I should block it from shining directly into the water but still be visable to other boats thanks

Put a White sock over it, ... It cuts the glare and others can still see you.

Not to steal OP's thunder, but how critical is it to mask light when night fishing? Will the illumination from the anchor light spook 'em?

I keep all additional lights off BUT keep navigation lights on, i don't think that matters at all, I hate it when guys turn lights on when your 100 yards away, unsafe and, breaking the law in most states.

I agree with you IA, keep the lights on at night! It does not bother the fish one bit!!! A whole lot safer!!!

If it's a 360 degree rear light, put some electrical tape over the part facing the interior of the boat. Make it a 270 or 180, but check your laws.

I am sure the reason being it really sucks when you are fishing next to it. Messes up your night vision, and it's like looking into the sun even if it is to the side of you.. Heck I put electrical tape over my little lights on the trolling motor pedal and base (AP light) as they bother me in the dark.

Depending on how many people are in the boat with you it is not always feasible to get away from fishing next to the light.

Thanks I always wondered what people were doing and yes I'm very uncomfortable with turning it off at night and its illegal in Mn. And bought the boat from a private party.

Not to mention it's like an open sign to the mosquitoes.
