Subject: Bream for bait?

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this with any success. I have tried it while lake fishing a couple of times with no luck and was thinking it may work better in the river where fish tend to be smaller?
Thanks

bluegills do work for bait. We cant use bream transporting fish from down south to use up north is frowned upon.

I thought they were considered a gamefish therefore being illegal to use as bait

Depends on where you are from.

In IL, bluegills can be used for bait provided they were caught on the lake you are using them in
In WI, gamefish are legal to use for bait provided they are of legal size, caught with hook and line using a valid license, and counted towards your daily bag limit.

No bream are not (or ever) considered gamsfish. They are classified as panfish.

In Indiana panfish are considered gamefish.

I just know we used to use them for catfish and it was legal then and thought they might be good for musky. For anyone thats used them do they work pretty good this time of year?

I'm reasonably sure it would be effective. But I'd rather eat 'em!

Billgill worked for me earlier this year - before muskie season opened.
