| Looking for a reel that would be used for smaller bucks, cranks and topwater. Low profile would be nice but don't want to spend over 200. Thanks. | |||

Posts: 127 | PIKEMASTER - 8/7/2012 11:48 AM Go with the new Daiwa Lexa 300 retail $199.99 So do you have much experience with this reel? How does it hold up? I find it frustrating to see reels recommended that people have zero experience on or with no reference to people with at least some decent on the water experience.

I used one for 1 day last week and the reel is Great for $200.00 Comes with a A/R backup Pawl and the power handle fits your hand nice, if Daiwa would come out with a 5.4:1 and a 4.9:1 this reel could be a nice reel for the $$$$

Posts: 310 | Love my Curado 300s. But, I've also got some Abu C3s that are now backups/loaners. For a $90 reel, you can't go wrong with the C3. I've never had problems with them, and plenty of rookies have abused them in all kinds of odd ways without any problems. Not that you're a rookie, but just saying they seem to work well no matter what. Only downside to the C3 IMO is the lack of a thumb bar.

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | A SSC3 might fit well for you. While ABU is no longer making them, parts are readily available and they are easy to maintain. You can look for a used 5600 or 6600 SSC3 on the trade forum. A SSC3 is basically a C3 with a thumb bar. I have four of them now and they are really nice reels. One can usually pick up used SSC3s for about $50-$60.
