It is a great all around rod. I am new to the TI XH rods but have been testing them out on a pond by my house with mulitple lures. It sure can throw pounders but if you were looking for a rod stickly for it I would say go with an XXH. I don't personally have one but am dreaming of a new one soon!

I wouldn't suggest throwing pounders on it as the tip is pretty soft. It is a great rod that can throw most things but I would go to an XXH for throwing pounders.

I just got mine in the mail on Tuesday, Found a pond by my house and just started messing around with some of my new stuff. I was able to throw smaller stuff like rattle traps, and mepps musky killers (smaller ones). I was even messing aroudn and throwing some bass spinner baits. It seemed to do just fine, and of course throwing lots of dbl 8s and up, realy flings em. Can't wait to see what will happen once I am able to really bomb some of the bigger stuff on the water for real.

The TI XH is a very versatile rod. It will throw some pretty small baits, I've thrown down to 2 oz with mine, but it will handle smaller. I use mine for stuff up to about 8 oz, I don't throw many bigger baits. It will throw pounders, but it's a bit light for them IMO. It will also handle blades up to double 10's, it flexes too much in the tip for my liking on 12's. For pounders and 12's, go XXH.

I bought a 9' TI XH last year and it was almost the only rod I used. Loved it. I did use it for Pounders some. You'll more or less be lob casting them, but the rod can cast them well enough if needed. What I found was that if I wanted to really rip a Pounder back to the boat hard, the road loaded up quite a bit with each rip, and that can wear you out a little. I bought Jame's 9' XXH TI rod this year to use for Pounders, Bucketheads (a Pounder sized Hardhead), and other really heavy baits. It came in the mail yesterday and after handling it I think it will make a very nice Pounder rod.

If you are looking for a rod to do everything smaller than Pounders very well, and do Pounders on occasion, the XH will work well. If you want something to wing Pounders into the wind with and rip them back fast, go up to the XXH.

It's a great all-around rod as many people have said. It is my favorite rod ever for a 10" Jake, throws gliders well, and can throw double 8s and smaller bucktails and spinnerbaits very well, also.

I had the same apprehension as you do. I am not a fan of ordering stuff through the mail, especially stuff that is as important to me as a Musky rod. But it came in a really nice, thick card board tube. The kind of thick tube that you could slam in a door and it would not effect the rod. It is not flimsy in any way, shape or form. There is a nice pad about 4 inches thick at the top of the tube to gaurd the top guide on the rod.

It is well worth it and James is awesome to work with. He ships fast and if you have any concerns don't hesitate to send him a message or an e-mail, he replys faster then I ever could with a business like his.

I love the rod and the service as I know it so far! Props to TI rods and James. I wish more people had the same outlook on thier business as James does.

I just ordered my first TI rod (XH full grip) and it's awesome. Just cast a bunch of lures at the pond down the road - 13's, 10's, 8's, Phantom, Mag's. All cast and reeled great (Tranx HG). Don't worry about the shipping as stated above; it was so well packed I'm saving the tube and foam cushion for possible future use when transporting my rod on long trips.

Like has been said the rod is a top notch all around rod. I can sling a big shadrap into the wild blue yonder, handle double 10s, toss hellhounds, and I can cast it with unreal accuracy compared to any other rig I've used.
