Location: Contrarian Island | creepers, hawg wobblers, chopper / topraider / pacemakers
best to experiment...imo creepers shine in may / june, then when water temps are higher best luck is with Choppers / topraiders...and as water cools in Sept/Oct, I have had some very good luck with hawg wobbler style baits....
every night is different...I have seen nights where fish ignore a chopper but have crushed topraidrers fished behind my chopper....just like during the day experiment to figure out what they want...some don't take the time to truly listen to their baits, tune and tweak tehm, and throw the ones that have a bit different sound...if you have a chopper that has a metallic "chirp" to it at slow speeds that will be money for you...
topwaters at night are one of my favorite ways to catch fish... have had lots of 3+ fish nights on topwaters and it doesn't get better than doing an L and the water erupting at your feet!

Location: Hugo, MN | As you can see, ANY topwater will work at night. Try a couple of baits that you have confidence in during the day and let the fish tell you what they prefer that night. |

Its not a NO-NO, but more of a recommendation... People seems to think that more it goes swish swoosh, more likely a muskie would miss it... but from what I can see here, half of the time, they really nail the lure on the pause... so go ahead use WTD but I'd recommend that you SLOW it down... maybe a second or two of pause would help them zero in on the WTD lures, and when they attack it, HOLD ON!!! But then again, thats just my suggestion... What the heck do I really know??? LOL
Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow, Anybody... When a muskie really wants that lure... he/she will let you know... hopefully he/she ends up getting hooked... |
