| Any one use this real particularily to throw double 10's or 13's and if you did how did it work? I know they are spendy, but if they are like any other calcuttas they are probably worth it! |

| Needs a counterbalanced handle. MUCH better for CASTING as it was designed as a saltwater jigging reel. |

Location: Appleton, WI | Three guys I fish with have them. They throw 10s and 13s with them and haven't had issues with the reel engaging on the cast. The power handle is awesome, reel is built like a tank, and they are more than pleased with the performance. Ive used one for a few hours and it was a great reel for blades. |

Location: Appleton | I own one also and haven't had any issues with the handle engaging like I've heard in the past. I love it for big blades, it's a great reel. If your looking for a multi purpose reel I'd just go with a 400TE but for blades this reel works well. Just an FYI I'm not one of the 3 guys the above poster refers to.

| I just tried out this reel for the first time. Also tried out the Trinidad 16n and 16n Dc. I did not like the Trinidad's compared to the LJV. The LJV is simply an awesome reel. Very easy to cast and control. 10's and 13's come in like the blades have fallen off and at 25" per crank, the lures come in with plenty of speed. The reel is also light and easy to palm. No casting or engaging issues what so ever. The reel is pricey but to me it is worth every penny.

Location: Twin Cities, MN | The 5.0:1 gear ratio is the same for the LJV and the TE.
I believe the TE has 4+1 bearings, the LJV has 6+1 bearings.
The LJV comes standard with the very nice cranking handle that many guys are now buying after market to put on the TE though for the big blades.
Same line capacity. |

Location: Land of the Musky | My TE400 power handle engages the reel once in a while. Pain in the ars but it is really nice to have on the reel! I try to make sure the handle is in the "right" place each time and I ahve reduced teh number of times it engages doing this. I make sure it points towards me during the cast now. |

Location: Lake of The Woods | Cory was refering to using my equipment and tried my LJV before i did. I had a 13 on and thought that i had the leader rapped around the blades as it was so easy to bring in. There isnt a shimano musky reel that i havnt tried and i can honestly say that the LJV is hands down the easiest reel iv used. There have been a couple of times that i have had the reel engage as it does not have a counter balance. Id personally like to thank Sondag for recommending this reel. LOTW will soon be full of these reels. |

| Amazing reel for blades. NEEDS A COUNTER BALANCE as mentioned. If you've used this reel for more then a day, then you know it engages itself a lot if the handle is in the wrong position. ...and sometimes handle positioning is the last thing on your mind. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Why buy the LJV ??? it is $80.00 more then a TE and you still have to buy a $50.00 counter-weight handle for it. The only thing the LJV has over a TE is a cold forged aluminum frame and anti-rust bearings, the other 2 bearings are in the handle paddle. The reel is for jigging in saltwater not casting, so buy the TE and a Trinidad 12 power handle and save some $$$$$

Location: Bemidji, MN | If Sondag loves them as much he does and says it's his favorite reel and has put a ton of fish already in the boat this summer then the reel is just not for jigging and works well for casting. But each to their own anyway. |
