I make 8'' gliders and have caught several trolling with them, biggest was 40''. Casting, 45''. Now, the one that hit my 12'' late in the season last year while trolling, was big. Felt it, but never saw it left some nice teeth marks though.

Dave, I'm guessing he's just curious and threw the question out there for those who wanted to respond and were interested in finding out. I was interested; won't influence me in buying any manufacturer's baits, but still curious.

Just seems like useless info to me. What if a guy only fishes in Ohio and has a 45" pb vs. a guy who fishes his baits in Canada and has a 55" pb. Is the guy in Ohio inferior to the guy in Canada? I make baits but the biggest fish caught on my baits wasn't caught by me. Even if this was taken into consideration it still doesn't change the price of tea in China. I'm not trying to start anything I just don't see the point. It's not a contest. Don't get me wrong. We all want to catch bigfish, myself incuded, but I think we make too big of a deal out of it. The fish I had the most fun catching doesn't even crack my top ten in size.

I think Medford Fisher's point was that if you don't like the topic of the thread, then don't respond. I also think it is interesting, but I'm not going to buy a lure based on the responses either. I believe the original poster was just doing it for fun.

Never said I didn't like or dislike the topic. I just think we are at times to focused on "what's the biggest fish you've caught". I've seen guys catch a fish, have the fish put up a great fight only to have the guy bummed out because it measures a half an inch shorter than what he thought it was. I've met new people at club meetings and shows and within the first five minutes they are asking me "what's your biggest?" If you get so focused on having to catch the biggest and one upping the next guy you will miss the "big" picture (Get out on the lake with some friends and have fun). If one guy's lure has caught a bigger fish than another guy's lure is not going to make me buy or not buy either one. If the post is just to satisfy curiosity then go for it. All I asked in the first place was "why?". I wanted to see if there was more to it. I don't think that was out of line. Isn't the whole idea of these forums to get different opinions and points of view.

I'm not a lure maker, but the biggest I caught was on a lilly-tail. Smallest bait in my box!

we ask about the biggest because we all want the biggest so we can have the fight and thrill of our lives. its all about the fight and the rush for me. bigger fish + harder fight = big rush for me, OH YEAH!!!
