Posts: 31 Location: saint paul, mn | right now on my jerk bait rod, I am using a Cardiff 400. It is a nice reel, but I am wondering if a faster gear ratio would be better. Any thoughts or suggestions on what people prefer for their jerkbait rods, would be greatly appreciated. Nate

Posts: 238 | I ran a shimano curado 300 dsv for a season and a 1/2 now and i personally find it to be the best jerk/glide bait reel ive ever used.I wont throw jerkbaits with any other reel since switching.

Posts: 31 Location: saint paul, mn | As far as a comparison between the two I am considering, the induron 250 and the curado 300, wouldn' t the better reel for jerk baits be the curado? I say this because of the difference in the gear ratio's between the two. thanks, Nate

I used the curado dsv 300 on a jerkbait rod this fall and liked it alot. I threw a lot of suicks and phantoms and it seemed to work well. I haven't used it enough though to be sure that I would go exclusively to this reel for jerkbaits.

Posts: 31 Location: saint paul, mn | Regarding the curado 300. What are it's capabilities, as far as size of baits it can handle? Those of you using this as your jerk bait reel, what is the max weight you are throwing, lure wise. Thanks, Nate

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I like a slower retrieve for a jerk bait presentation, personally. Most of the action I give a jerk bait is generated by short, hard snaps and taps, and a 5to1 or in that range provides the strength in the gearing and 'correct' line pick up for me. I have a couple 6.2:1 V200a model Okumas, and love 'em for spinnerbaits and tail rotating topwaters, but find the 250 in my grip every time I'm tossing a Suick. Just more comfortable for me, I guess.

Posts: 238 | Ive thrown everything from 10 inch suicks, reefhawgs, bobbie baits, both size mants and burt baits with no problum at all,i think the 300 dsv will throw just about any sized jerkbait well!
