Posts: 128 Location: ontario canada - Well Anderson Indiana now | Ok, I moved to Indiana from Canada (don't ask) and now that I've paid off the ridiculous lawyer fees and immigration stuff I picked up a decent boat and I'm ready to get out there. My question is how crowded are these lakes on weekends? I'm assuming they get pretty busy. Between Barbie, tippy, and webster...which one would be the least busy on the weekends? Are there other lakes that i should consider? Thanks Doug

Location: The Yahara Chain | It is my understanding that Indiana only has about 2000 acres of Musky waters. I think you have listed most of them. Coming from Canada you are probably going to be shocked with the amount of boats that you are going to encounter. Lots of fish in those lakes though....tons of shad for them to feed on.

Posts: 22 | Seaman Good of you to move close to the best Musky waters around - although the lakes are small you can thank the Hoosier Musky Hunters and the Indiana DNR for making sure that Webster has the most Adult Musky per acre of any lakes sampled - anywhere!! That said - my partner & I have boated 10 already in 3 1/2 days of casting. Usually, after Memorial Day we never fish any of them on weekends - just during the week - while this is somewhat limiting to us - there is not sense to fish when the lakes are full - I do not think the Musky care - but no need to fish the busy times - if you are busy during the days - one of the best time sot fish these lakes is around 5:00 PM to 1 hour or so after dark. Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | On the weekends....out of control. But one good thing is that the muskies are used to it and still eat in all that mad house.

Posts: 128 Location: ontario canada - Well Anderson Indiana now | Yea just as I figured but I think weekends are really my only times to travel the 2 hours and fish. I'll definetely look into the ohio lakes, thanks alot Mikie, you have been a great help this week! As for the Indiana fishery, can anyone give me info on the musky fishing clubs or anyway that I can help sustain or improve the fishery. So next weekend I'll make my first trip to an Indiana lake, I'm still undecided as to which one but I will be there early! I look forward to meeting all you guys out there on the lake, thanks for your help. Oh last question, is there somewhere my wife and I can tent camp around the webster, tippy lake area? Doug

Posts: 24 Location: Webster Lake | There are 2 clubs in Indiana The Hoosier Muskie Hunters www.hoosiermuskie.com out of Indy and the Webster Lake Musky Club www.websterlakemuskyclub.com in North Webster They both are good clubs it just depends on what you want and most of our outings our open to both chapters. I am the president of WLMC if you have any questions about either club I would be happy to help get you signed up for either chapter. there is a post on our websites forum with the info for all the area campgrounds. Posts: 1023 Location: Lafayette, IN | a footnote.... There are several more than 2000 acres of viable musky water in Indiana. Most of the focus is on Webster however. Don't rule out Bass, Loon, Bruce, etc. Steve

Posts: 20270 Location: oswego, il | If you want on webster or barbee, get there early. Ramps are full by 6am or before. Tippy is easier to get on, ramps are never full but has the boat traffic like the others.

Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | Doug, Chae mentioned thw Webster Lake club's website. It ends in .org and not .com. I like seeing new faces join into Muskies Inc. whether it be in our club or not! On another note...the Barbee chain consists of 7 lakes, 6 of which are 10mph. You can find a complete range of water there from gin clear to dirty/stained. Webster Lake gets the most amount of fishing pressure but don't let that stop you...6.5 adult muskies per acre! Barbee has the most amount of pontoon boats running around because of the speed limits. Tippecanoe has the most amount of pleasure boaters (jet skis and ski boats). Also keep in mind that Tippecanoe has been stocked with 1 fish per acre per year while Webster and Barbee have been stocked with 5 fish per acre per year. On average Tippecanoe has larger fish though. If I can help out in any other way please let me know.
