I am not a patient guy, and it has been killing me trying to hold up my part of the whole "Chrome Thang" that Stan Durst and I have been working on together for the past months, just so you guys could fish with the very best available.
You guys have seen what Stan was able to accomplish in a short amount of time. I've been impressed, I hope that you have been also. Well, with the creation of new Captains Quarters for me to play in, the first business at hand was to try the other end of the chrome project. We have been saying all along that this takes more time if you want to do it right, and if you want it to last. My part included the chromation of lighter and brighter colors, if that was possible. Well, I finally got to do the first 3 parts of the process in the last 10 days, and couldn't wait for a sunny day to lay my wares on the table. These lures are unfinished. They require another coat of magic elixer and a coat of Envirotex and 72 hours of drying before they would be ready for the water.
I have one picture taken in bright sunlight, with the maximum effect visible that I will post. I will try to downsize another one enough so you can see what it looks like at about 3/4 of the maximum effect.
The lures at the bottom of the photo have been chromified. The ones on the top are what the same lures would look like if I were to paint and sell them in the customary way......minus one coat of E-Tex though.
Like we've said from the start, some guys will love it, some won't be impressed. But here is the beginning of phase 2, and what results you can expect. The perch are the brightest because they have the brightest colors, and were getting hammered directly by the sun. I'll try to get some pics where the reflectivity is toned down a little.
I can't wait to experiment with different colors and different patterns. Right now it seems like we can get as crazy as we want to get.
In answer to some of the e-mails that I've been getting, no it's not just something that we mix in the Envirotex and anybody can do it. And yes it takes a lot longer because of extra steps and extra curing time that can't be sped up.
We'll try to make them as fast as we can, but we're not going to skip on quality. Right now, from the looks of the first test batches, I'll probably be doing 75% of my lures in some facet of chromification this year.
So, the first picture is coming up, and I'll try to get more up as soon as I can.......I can paint, but I suck at making pictures do this justice.
I also will start painting my pants off real soon, so you guys that I told to be patient....NOW is the time to request colors. I'll probably do them in batches of 10 at a time for each color.
Thanks for your being patient, and for your interest.
Beav

Beaver, for better quality/bigger pics maybe give the links below out a try. Upload your pics to a file site and then use the link of your pic to post to this site. That is if M1st will allow links posted here, I was banned from another fishing forum for posting links.
Anyways...hope it helps - Pete

Maybe I'll go back to scanning them individually as they become ready.
I just wanted to show the boys what was on the horizon.
Thanks,

Totaly Awsome Beav, The other effect we talked about over the Chrome comes out beautiful too, doesn't it?
hey Guys,
Beav and I have even more effects to bring out once we get the chromey thing well on it's way.
I have some lures that I have just finished re-painting and Chroming for some people. Will put the pictures up later today.
I haven't had much time to paint the last few weeks as we are trying to get my Dad's estate worked out. This week I am going to be able to put more time in the shop.
Beav is sending me some more Perkas so watch out.
The Chrome Team is ready to go.

A few lures that I am chroming for people right now.
As Beav has said, we have been working together on this thing and we are trying to show you the results. The hard work is paying off with some great results.
We want to go beyond the regular chromey thing that has been put out in the past. We are working with naturalcolors and some of our usual colors and incorporating the chromey thing into them for better results and choice. Since I have clouds and snow here today I had to rely on the flash from the camera. But as it is with pictures,if you think they are nice, you should really see it in your hands.
Hey Beav,
Should we let the cat out about the other chromey type thing?

No, I don't think that these guys could handle BLACK CHROME....did I say that?
All you guys that say you don't need any color but black......hold on to your pants.
Like black top waters? Get ready for something new and exciting.......once we OK it
As you guys can tell, Stans Perch was done in one way, and mine was done in a different way that we discovered while we were playing around. I wouldn't say that me version is as much of a chrome as my shads/smelt were, they were more of a BLAST! Only the darkest hues take on a chromy look, while everything else is accentuated.
Sure, go ahead and tell them Stan......NYUK NYUK NYUK

In response to a couple of e-mails today, NO....I have not gone all chrome. It's just an option. I will still be painting my lures in some old and some new patterns, but you can always get the regular paint jobs.
In fact, if I had to chrome everything, I'd go nuts! Besides, some patterns just don't look good chromed.....but you'll never see them. They're in my box already.

What Beav says about painting regular colors and not all chrome goes for me also. I wouldn't dream of going all chrome, but I do dream of Beav and I offering as much color version as humanly possible by creating new styles that the fish haven't seen yet.
Beav and I thought that we would take what little talent we have to bring you guys something new in designs.
We will be fishing with this stuff too. There is no way we are going to paint them for everyone else and not have it ourselves.
Hey Beav, did you say Black Chrome?
Now you went and did it, you let the cat out of the bag. Get busy buddy and lets do it.
