Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Does anybody know of a good, accurate and reliable thermometer that I can check the temps at different depths? I have a cheap one that I can drop over the side of the boat, that I got at a local tackle shop, but I don't trust it very much. I am looking for something that is accurate and reliable. Thanks,

Posts: 1769 Location: Algonquin, ILL | I have seen some digital thermometers at Aquarium stores but they only have a 6 ft lead at best. I do recall seeing some type of thermometer for Trolling it attached to a downrigger cable maybe if you look that up you may find what your looking for

Posts: 82 Location: Cottage Grove, Mn | Mike; There was a company called the Fishhawk Co. located in northern Illinois. They sold the temp guage that I have , that had a 100' wind on cable with a numeric dial indicator for depth. They sold products also for the salmon fishery that included temp sensors for downrigger weights. You might try to find them.

Posts: 518 Location: Cave Run Lake KY. | I have been useing a QUEG FISH FINDER made in Germany it reads the temp in 5ft. incerments down to 100 ft. you can hook it to you casting rod and lower it to the bottom and pull it back up and it will read the temp in 5 ft. incerments. I have been useing mine for about 6 years and got it at The Fishing' Hole , R&R Sports 3115 East Layton Ave. Cudahy Wiconsin 5310 (414-481-6888) cost about $60.00. Im sure they will mail one. Bass Pro may have them. Marv.
