Posts: 1259 Location: Walker, MN | It's actually the full moon on Wednesday. It's hard to say which day/days will be best, all good bets. The weather looks good for getting some fish moving. I'd be sure and fish the moon under foot mid-day, and moon rise/sunset.

Posts: 1144 Location: NorthCentral WI | First off, Wednesday is the full moon not the new moon. However, that doesn't change the context of your question. Second, the best time to go fishing is when you can. I have caught many more fish when conditions were less than prime and been skunked on plenty of days that should have been great according to moon phase or weather conditions.

Posts: 20238 Location: oswego, il | The biggest thing for me when there is a full moon or any moon really is when is it underfoot. In this case right in the middle of the day. It's going to set before sunup and rise about 30min before sunset. That's near perfect. If the full moon was overhead in the middle of the day I probably would not bother. Fish Wednesday.

Posts: 1476 Location: Brighton CO. | A number of years ago I caught my largest Muskie on a cold windy October day of the full moon. When telling the story to a friend he asked what time did catch it ? After telling him "just when you should have" I guess the moon was under foot.

Darren OK, here's my quandry... The weather here has been sunny, and calm with seasonal temperatures since Saturday. More of the same is forecast for tomorrow (full moon), with increasing cloudiness on Thursday, an increasing chance of rain, and eventual thunderstorms after sunset, with the approach of a cold front.. I can only fish one of these days, since the nearest muskie water is two hours away.. Which day would you fish? Edited by miket55 10/19/2021 11:08 AM

Posts: 20238 Location: oswego, il | I can say I have never caught a fish on the October full moon. Been on the best spots and rise always coincides pretty close with sunset. It's never done a thing for me.

Posts: 32906 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I'd fish the closest to the front arriving I could and not worry a lot about the moon at that point. last night I was chasing walleye, bass, and crappie schools around on the Humminbird Mega 360, and lit them up pretty good the hour surrounding moonrise. I only saw 1 muskie yesterday, hanging around a crib. Coudn't get it to do anything.
