What do you all suggest for smaller buck tails. I’m talking like double showgirls and smaller for purposes of burning them in. Do you guy go down to a medium heavy rod and smaller reel?

| i use a ST.Croix Long Ranger and Tranx 400. I guess its not cheap but works well for me. I also throw alot of spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and its great for that as well. |

Location: Chisholm, MN | I use a big nasty with tranx 400hg. I like a stout rod for just about everything I do. I feel like you lose way more fish with a wimpy rod. |

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota | I have a St croix mojo bass 7’10” h swimbait rod with a tranx 300 for the really little stuff like 500/700 buchertails and the really small trilogy that is a blast to fish, feels great to switch things up and throw a light rod after throwing normal sized stuff for awhile. Anything bigger than that I’ll throw on my big nasty with a 400 Calcutta d. I’ll throw really any blades on that rod and feel comfortable, casts a single 8 or the small slopmastera great and still handles 10’s fine. |

Location: oswego, il | I am going to say it, dare I say it, inches per crank, there I said it. A 400 size reel with a power handle that gets close to or over 40" per crank handle. Put it on a MH or H rod at least 8.5' or longer. You will have a setup that will scream baits, long casts and great figure eights. |

Location: Ludington, MI | I've got a Slingblade and I would not go smaller than 8s with it. It's just too stiff to throw small stuff. It gives you no assist. Same goes for Big Nasty. Would like to try a Long Ranger. |

Location: Illinois | I have a Daiwa Lexa 400HD in the 6.3 ratio for smaller bucktails/lures. It can handle bucktails up to double nines pretty easily, tens might wear out the gearing with heavy use. For a rod I use a Musky Innovations Select Series Medium Heavy, it is only $100 but it has held up well after multiple fish, some caught trolling. The whole setup would probably cost about $300-350 depending on what deals you can find. |

| Any rod of your choice with Tranx 400 will cast a light bait. I've thrown size 14 husky jerks with a Tranx without a single backlash. |

Location: Ham Lake, Minnesota | I use either a St. Croix LT Top N' Tail with a Calcutta 400B or a St. Croix LT Slingblade with a Calcutta 400TE.
Both are full-grips extended to 19 inches. |

| I use a 8'6" St C Long Ranger with Tranx 400 HS reel. It works great for what you have described but it is also so versatile.and can be used for a variety of applications. |
