My wife is taking me to Cabelas for my birthday present!! I cant believe she asked, as if I would have any thought as to going or not???!!! Does anyone know if they have much of a selection of baits?? I always fish on my birthday and will be on one of the northern Indiana lakes in the morning. If anyone wants to come along let me know we can meet up at the ramp. Thanks,

Randy

I was at the Cabela's in Wisconsin and they did'nt have squat. Have your wife drive you up to the new 100,000 sqr ft Gander in Illinois or if she really loves you, she'd drive you up to God's country...Rollie & Hellen's!

They do have a little but not much for such a big store. You would be much better off going to a store that specifically has Musky gear. Cabela's is a great store and we are glad to finally get one here in Michigan but their musky selection is definatly lacking. I just don't think they have many people coming in for that stuff.

I know the one here in Owatonna is limited to (and doesn't carry a FULL color selection whatsoever) Bucher Tails, Reg. Top Raider, Suicks, Grandmas, Windel Tails, Jakes, Burts, Odyssey products including Phantoms, Mepps, Poes, and thats the extent of it. I'm sure I'm missing a few things, but just basic lure selections.

You can try the gander mountain in merriville too. They may have some stuff. Isn't there a big tackle shop in southern michigan named lunkers or something like that? You might want to check them out too.

BPS in Chicago may not be Smokey's or R and H's but I thought it had a pretty decent selection.....

Happy b-day Mr Whiteman. Enjoying your new boat?

Is there a new Cabela's that I haven't heard of? Not Dundee, IL is it?

Fished for about 5 hours and was 2 for 3. Big thanks to ToddM for the magic formula I turned 37 today and cant imagine a better way to treat myself to a present than fishing.

See Ya On The Water,

Randy, glad to see you did well today on your birthday. Glad to see the pattern is still holding up too.;-) I traditionally do not fare well when fishing on my birthday, goes all the way back to my childhood. This year was the same, nothing short of a disaster.

I would reccomend Lunkers. Haven't been there recently but last time I was the selection was pretty good. There is also the gander in Ft wayne isn't there? Any idea how the selection is compared to merriville?
