Posts: 98 | I love the look of these reels and have heard hey are good too. just wondering what applications you would use it for and could it withstand/do well with magnum rubber medussa's, mag-dawgs, etc...

Posts: 78 | I've got an older curado 300 DSV I use for smaller baits like 6" jakes & buchers & smaller bucktails. I don't think it would hold up over a period of time throwing baits that are heavier than 3 oz

Posts: 2312 Location: SE, WI. | I like the Curado EJ for jig and creature fishing! Great line pickup, low profile, and comfortable to fish with. JD

Posts: 349 | I definitely go against the norm, but I have 4 curados that I use for everything except trolling/suckers. Big baits included.

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | I use my Curado 301e for double 8's, regular Medussas, Shadzillas & other small stuff. Shimano has discontinued them in favor of the smaller 400 & 300 Tranx models.

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | Nuclear.smelt - 6/6/2017 3:59 PM any problems with them? I have 4 seasons of hard work with them & no issues. I currently have it apart for cleaning & lube so I need to stop procrastinating & get it back in service. My only gripe with it is that sometimes the line will pile up more on one side of the spool.

Posts: 457 Location: Minneconia | Doorstop. Really weak drag and uneven line spooling at times. Get a Toro.

Posts: 72 | I have used my 301 hard every month of the year since november 2014 and have been beyond impressed. Even though i think mine will die soon (starting to squeal like a injured rabbit and growl like a mad dog). To preserve the life of this reel i would recommend only throwing "small stuff", but i have used mine for pretty much everything in the box and with all but a few it has performed great. I use mine for mostly small blades, topwaters, cranks, and jerk baits small and large. I recommend this reel for anybody. Only complaints are like stated above the stacking of line on oneside of the spool (usually not an issue but it drives my ocd nuts), and on a long cast you lose some ipt, other than that i think its a great reel.

Posts: 463 Location: Sw Pennsylvania | I use my 300ej For jerkbaits. I prefer to thumb the spool between jerks. Seems to help with the longevity of the anti reverse bearings.

Posts: 349 | Nuclear.smelt - 6/6/2017 2:59 PM any problems with them? Stripped a drag nut and handle nut on one of the EJ's and that's been it. I send them to Shimano every other year and for $25 they come back like brand new. I've owned or used most other popular reels, and curados are just so dam comfortable in my hand that I won't use anything else. If I have a need in the future, I'll definitely check out the tranx 300 since it looks like a little beefier upgrade to the curado.

Posts: 115 | The problem of line piling up on one side of the spool is due to making a lot of shorter casts. Every time it happens to me i just put on a lure that i know i can bomb cast a long way and make a few casts. The line will even out.
