Location: Germantown, WI | Planning a trip to the Florida Keys in early April. Curious if anyone can recommend a good charter? Did some googling and the choices seem endless. One constraint, I'll likely fish alone - my wife doesn't share my fishing addiction. I'm open to deep sea or inshore (prefer inshore).

Location: 15 miles east of Lake Kinkaid | Dream Catchers Capt. Steve Lamp is top notch. Him and his guys run 6-8 boats a day. He does inshore and nearshore. Take a trip to the Marquesas for Tarpon and cudas, you will not be disappointed. |

Location: South Elgin | Captain Scott Kolpin with Elusive Endeavors 305-304-3159. The guy crushes the inshore stuff. I fish with him at least twice a year and he always has me on fish. Got a 62" Cuda with him last March, to go with permit to 25lbs and too many tarpon and bone fish if that's possible. Also some great shark fishing.

Location: Germantown, WI | Just got back and wanted to give a shout out to Capt. Scott Kolpin of Elusive Endeavors. I had an amazing day - caught my first tarpon, a 55" cuda and tangled with a lemon shark. He definitely is on the fish and I had tons of opportunities at tarpon, permit and cudas. If you are in Key West, I would definitely recommend him.

I hope you know how special that cuda was. 55" in itself is great but at this time of year and in 4 feet of water. Crazy. Got me a 62" last March the same way. |

| Scott is great. I sent him a client a few years ago that had fished with many different guides from key west but with no success. He now fishes with Scott on a regular basis and couldn't be happier. Catching salt water fish can be tricky or different from what your use to but Scott is a great teacher. I just joined this blog so I could reply about Scott. By the way J_mich I was the guy who called Scott right after you landed that 62" cuda. Amazing |

| I am hoping to take my first trip to the Keys next February. What tactics have you all used to catch the barracuda and tarpon? Also, have any of you done any Blackfin tuna fishing in the Keys? Thanks |

| For cudas a cuda tube is probably the most exciting way to fish them. First you hunt them down in the flats and then rip the cuda tube past their face like a prop. If they decide its lunch you can't keep it away from them. They came at mock 1 but if you hook him up they go to mock 3. With Scott I have fished with live pin fish, crabs and plugs for tarpon and all have been smashed. There is a pole ready with each just depends on the situation. If you are a musky guy and you relish spending a day on the water waiting for that one strike of a musky then you had better call Scott and try cudas and tarpon. Sorry to say this guys but there is no comparison. Having a 100 plus pound fish 6 feet in the air next to the boat is something you will never experience chasing muskies. And for cudas, those are just plain and simple shear death on a rocket. Go hunt the flats. But I still cant wait for the musky opener here in northern WI. |
