Ive been looking for some new trailer tires, ive searched this website and looked in a lot of other places. I have a 19ft champion and need st215/75/r14 tires any suggestions? Ive heard mixed reviews from GY marathons and carlises. What about Maxxis?

Posts: 333 Location: menasha wi 54952 | In my area the only choices are GY Marathons and Power King STR. Power King is a private brand that makes Multi Mile, Cordovan and Sigma. Half the price as the Good Years with the same rating. They look nice and handle really well. I could not tell the difference. http://www.tbcprivatebrands.com/powerking/viewline.asp?id=109 MR

I put 4 maxxis st215/75/R14 on my trailer over winter. I read a lot of reviews (mixed also) and wanted to get away from GY. Check out some walleye sites under trailer forum good info, or some bassboat sites have good info also, if you have not checked those. I mulled over going between maxxis and kumho which seemed to be favored by those who switched....I have yet to pull with them so I can't say if they are better or not time will tell.

When I did my research, I found nothing but bad news on the Carlisles. My Shorelander Trailer came from the factory with Goodyear Marathons. Canada every year and even back and forth to Phoenix AZ when I lived there. I rode them for 9 years with no issues. When it came time to replace them last summer, I didn't even consider putting anything else on besides Goodyear Marathons again!

Posts: 3240 Location: Racine, Wi | I've seen some bad reviews of the Carlisles (however I have those on my trailer and put a TON of miles on them the past 5 years with no issues (ST205/75R14). Just put new tires on the trailer last week, and went with the same ones. I believe I read (in threads on M1st) that some of the issues with the Carlisles were due to improper inflation, but don't quote me on that. Knock on wood, they have served me well, so hopefully these new ones do as well. Edited by tuffy1 4/14/2011 11:15 AM

Posts: 49 | Good Year Marathon's would be my choice, Carlisle would not be considered........ I also believe that ALOT of the problems folks have that they blame on the tires, can actually be traced back to other problems........ Balancing, axle alignment, improper inflation, age, and swaying........just to name an important few........will trash any tire in a hurry, so check these items also..... Nothing worse than starting, or finishing a trip, with tire problems....... JR
