| Go thru Duluth and then head west on highway 2. It will take you right into the town of cass lake. The road to the resort is off of 2. I have found this route to be the fastest from the chicagoland area. |

| Hey Now,
I would avoid getting too close to Minneapolis, by taking Hwy 53 north off of I94, then probably Hwy 8 West to I 35.
Take I35 north to Duluth, then head west on Hwy 2.
Anybody have a good idea how to get across from the north end of Hwy 53's 4-lane area to the Duluth area? That seems to be the only tricky part.
Hwy 8 isn't bad but does have stoplights and small towns.
Maybe better to go north a little futher before going West/North to Duluth.
See ya there,

| Papajoe, hwy 53 goes all the way to Superior which is just across the bay from Duluth. This would be your best bet to get up North then to Hiway 2 in MN. |

| Being that I live in the twin cities, I can understand why you would want to avoid the traffic.
BUT!!! if you want the most direct route, here is what to do.
first, plan your trip to come through the TC area either late morning or extremely early afternoon (before 3:00 p.m.)
Take 94 west to 35E north. (stay in right lane of 94..you will have to merge to 35E north by moving 1 lane right)
Follow 35E north to 694 west (left lane will take you right to 694)
Follow 694 to HWY 10 West. You will hit a few stop lights here and there, but you will move along very well.
Stay on hwy 10 west through little falls, then take 371 north (right lanes will keep you on 371 to brainerd).
Take 371 right to cass lake. It intersects US2
I'd be willing to bet that this route would take you about 2 hours less than going to Duluth...

| I just got back from Cass the other day. You can gamble and go through the Twin cities, if you dont make it at the right time you are FUBAR. We avoid this and always take 94 to 53 North to Superior WI. Jump on RTE 2 in Duluth. Its easy drive and will save you over an hour from the twin cities approach.

| How about the TC route at night. I expect we'll be leaving Mark H's house around midnight. I've always gone through Superior to Hwy 2, on previous trips to that area. Can we really cut a couple hours drive time off by going through TC's?
What do you think DaveJ, Mike, Mark, and Mark?
Two weeks, and we'll be hauling in piggies!

| With the route I supplied you with, you avoid minneapolis, and skirt St. Paul...Cass is only 3 1/2 hours north of the twin cities, Chicago is 6 hrs from the TC...less if you are leaving at midnight. the only area to avoid is 94 going through minneapolis St. paul Downtown, and west. You will skirt it and...by leaving when you are, you will have very little slow down...maybe a bit from 35 t0 694. Other than that, you will be headed the opposite direction of traffic.
Going through Duluth you have a 3 1/2 hour trip from duluth to Cass... 4 1/2 to 5 from Chicago to Eau Claire(spelling), at least 2 from Eau Claire to Duluth, then 3 1/2 from there. at a Minimum you are looking at 10 hours.

| Go up 53 to Duluth. From over where you are it will be quicker. When I go from here I don't even gpo to the T.C. I skip across and go up through Brainerd.
