| While on LOTW (2) weeks ago, due to rains, my boat flooded out and killed my on board charger. I am looking to install an automatic bilge pump to prevent this from happening in the future. I have looked at Cabela's and Bass Pro and of course both offer such products. Reading the comments by other users, I was not comfortable with any of the ones they offer. Does anyone have a recomendation on one to buy?

| The Cabela Brothers and Johnny Morris don't need any more business.
Why not go to your local boating store and buy it there. The local usually sells the same products. They need the business and you'll become a familiar face. Who knows when you may need a quick repair somewhere in the future.

Location: lansing, il | I had my bilge pump fail during a storm a few weeks ago. After spending quite a while playing magyver, piecing my impeller back together and getting it to hold back on the shaft and praying it would work to get me thru the week (which it did). I replaced the pump when I got home with the type that has the whole cartridge that pops out and you can slide a new cartridge in. I bought a new spare cartridge and it stays it is in the boat just in case it ever happens again.
Ive had an auto float switch on mine for years and really like it. I think the switch is a Attwood?. Its been on the boat for 6 years and never had an issue with it. It was purchased at BPS.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Computer chip auto bilge. Looks for and senses water when it enters the hull, shuts off when there is none. Can't stick or get jammed by foreign material or sticky stuff in the bilge. Get the Cartridge pump. I've used the same one with no problems in both my 2003 model boats. |

| Thanks for the advice everyone. I was not necessarily going to purchase from the big stores, just looked at the information available to pick the best brand. I have the cartridge type manual pump but I did not see an auto bilge one. Just need a brand name if someone can offer that up.

Location: LOTW every chance I get | I just put a Rule pump in my boat after constant frustrations with malfunctioning float switches. It works very well. My only concern is the pump coming on while I've got a follow and scaring her off. |
