Location: Duluth, MN | So I've been trying out my new Predator and Trinidad in my pond and have noticed I have a hard time keeping the baits in the water! Too fast, good problem to have though. My question is when burning cowgirls, how much weight do you guys add and how do you add it. Also anyone have any preference as to where on the shaft to add weight?
Any info would be appreciated!

| Stealth Tackle has weighted leaders that are awesome for that. I picked some up at the tri esox show last winter. |

Location: MN | Hey Bob great rod huh:) I've got a couple dcg's that I added 2oz no rolls to the same place where the stock weight was. On most when I rebuild them I switch the stock 3/8 to 3/4-1oz. And when your really burrning stick your tip in the water 1-2ft and they won't blowout. |

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | The great thing about the trinidad, is you don't have to actually burn the crank to get the desired speed. That has been the issue with those reels since musky fisherman started using them. The weight won't really help blow out at high speeds very much. Like Tim Said submerge the tip and you should be okay. |

| why not just bury the tip of the rod in the water? instead of messing around adding weights. I assume that you bury the tip to do the figure eight. |

Location: Hayward, WI | I've always read, and found it to be true, that pointing the rod directly at the bait takes a lot of strain off of you and your wrists. Doesn't burying the rod 1-2 feet down put a lot more stress on you, especially if you are really smoking double 10's in? If it were me, I guess I would try weighting them first and see what happens. If that doesn't work, it sounds like you might have to live with burying the rod in the water.

| I add a 3/4 oz bell sinker to the front hook split ring. It casts much much better, and keeps the bait down. I promise, try it and you won't be disappointed. I've done experimenting with adding the weight to the leader and don't care for it. The weight pushes on the lure as it is flying through the air and wraps your leader/snap around the backside of the blades causing many more ruined casts. |

| curleytail is right, takes a lot of work to keep your rod in the water if your bait is too light and pointing your tip at the bait is ideal. reshafting and adding a 1oz weight will do the trick. just get some extra wireshafts, cut the dcg apart, and put it back together, it really is simple. that way you don't have weights and all other kinds of hardware hanging off your bait all the time. |
