Posts: 6 Location: Southeastern Wisconsin | Guys, How low is Pelican? My uncle was up there last weekend and said there is 8 to 10 feet between "shore" and the water. Is he just BS-ing me or is the lake really low? Later, Deuces'

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The lakes up here are all way down. We're short nearly 2" of rain this Spring already and had a serious deficit last year as well. Poor snow cover didn't help either. We need rain.

Posts: 91 | Were heading to the Detroit Lakes area in August. If I remember correctly isn't Pelican lake in Detroit Lakes area and if so I would have to assume all the lakes in the area would be suffering from the drought as well. Will we have problems fishing Big Detroit lake and Pelican?

Pelican Lake, Oneida County is a long way from Detroit.

Posts: 238 Location: Rhinelander | My in-laws live on the lake and was there Easter weekend.....i would say, yes the water is blow the normal high water mark but no way 6-7' from shore. They are on chicago point and I would say maybe 2' from shore at most. Like sled mentioned there is a pile of other lakes that are slowly and litterly dissapearing. I find it quite "scary" what is happening to the water table.

Posts: 512 Location: Appleton | When I was up the other weekend I would say at least 6" from where it was in August. Rain is needed for sure

Posts: 123 Location: Bemidji, MN | Guest - 4/7/2010 5:12 PM Pelican Lake, Oneida County is a long way from Detroit. Detroit Lakes, MN...not Detroit, MI if that's what you were thinking? but either way, still a long ways from both towns!

Posts: 51 | Pretty sure the pelican lake was not specified in the thread. He thought it was about pelican lake near pelican rapids and detroit lakes MN, a lesser talked about musky water.
