| Hi Guys:
I have been using St. Croix Premiers and Avids for years. No major complaints, although I have broken a few of them.
I just noticed that St. Croix has a Triumph line of musky rods. Not sure how new this product line is?
Are any of you guys using these and how do you like them?

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | The triumph line is their Low priced line and has been around several years. They're great rods for a weekend warrior or occasional fisherman with a small budget. If you fish a lot, you'd be better off staying with a Premier. |

Location: Hayward, WI | They look like pretty decent rods. I thnk one of the reasons you don't hear a lot about them is that they don't make them in lengths longer than 7'6". I'm sure St. Croix realizes that the long rods are really taking over in the musky industry, so I'm a little surprised they don't have something in at least an 8 foot length.
Anyway, I've heard the Triumph compared to the old style Premiers - the Premier line has now been redone. After just handling them in the store, the Triumphs feel about as physically heavy as the old Premier lineup did.

| I looked at them last night at the sport show. They seem to be okay rods, but i think for the $109 they are asking i would check out other makes at that point like Tackle industries, Okuma etc... since they offer a wider range of lengths and warranties for the price. The Triumph isn't really anything better or more special than the others in this price range and as curlytail mentioned, they are mostly 7 and 7'6" rods with no longer rods available.

Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | I have a 7'6" XH that I got a few years ago. Before there were so many choices under $130. It's a great rod, for the money, but the one thing I did not like was the fact that the handle is shorter than the premiers, from the reel seat back. I had mine extended six inches and now it's great for WTD jerkbaits. As stated above , better choices today for around a hundred bucks.

Location: Pickering, ON | They make a good backup or entry level rod. One of the shortcomings is the lack of selection in the line.
Look around for the best price. I got one for $90CA when they came out. $110US is way too much to pay for them. For $110-125 there are way better rods out there; like Tackle Industries.

| Where'd you pick one up for $90? I was always under the impression st. croix rods never really went on sale and were always the same price. I was thinking about picking one of the 7 or 7'6" as a jerkbait rod. I don't fish a ton of jerks, so I don't want to spend a ton of money on one. |

I got the 7'XH the year they came out (about a month after hearing about it from the regional St. Croix rep); that's got to be at least 3 years ago?
I love St. Croix rods, but no way is the Triumph worth $125

| Not in todays market. Many better products for less or the same money. Just because it says "St Croix" doesn't mean it's worth $125 IMO. |

In the new Cabelas catalog is says something like "Sometimes your expertise is measured by how many St. Croix you own". I own a bunch of St. Croix rods so I can only imagine that I am a way better fisherman because of it. 
Someday I will get a sticker made saying that so I can stick it on the side of my 621 so everyone will know that I am a pro. |
