| Just watched the episode where he makes some 'Whopper Ploppers', a tail rotating top-water that has a bendable tail that is not made from metal. Great sound....bends right back to original position.......and increases your hooking % because it bends out of the way. He's a genius when it comes to lure-making. If he can't be moderator can we crown him "King of the Basement" or something? |

| hey guys,
I'm really flattered by your comments. Like you I'm fascinated by lures and why some seem so effective and others so lame.
Like the guy in the old bob dylan song, "I've got a head full of ideas that are driving me insane!"
Among other things I'm messing with different stiffness of rubber for various applications from "bibs" and tails to bodies.
Along the lines of random, non-mechanical action I've been diddling with different ways of achieving the concept of getting lures to store energy for a brief moment before releasing it.
We're working on getting a couple of starter "kits" together with all the basic ingredients for molding either hard or soft lures. Hope to have it on the makelure.com website in a couple of days. This is hardly along the lines of making lures, but I urge you to watch the show this coming saturday. It's about a homemade hook and rig for live baiting muskies that I promise you will find fascinating.
I always enjoy the musky forums and like to see what guys are doing with lures. My own forum keeps me pretty busy when I'm home, but I don't get to pick the topics!
spring is right around the corner!

| I am lookin foward to these kits, because lookin on the web sight i get confused lookin at all the different products. I just want all the stuff Larry has on those little movie clips on the web sight, but it is overwhelming to see all the different products. Also my wife would not like me buying one of everything just to find out what i like, to make a handful of baits... |

Location: Norway | I was in the same boat as you anzo. And contacted Alumilite Corp. to order stuff, unfortunately was the shipping prices to Norway beyond what I wanted to pay. And they even apologized for that, they had VERY good customer service in general also. But what I ended up with was to buy everything I need 3 miles away from my house. And from watching mr. D's videos I knew what I needed, which hardness for this and that. So at times my Kitchen looks like chemistry lab  My wife says thank you larry!

Location: Oregon | I got a kick out of the camera shot where Larry was showing all the lures, in boxes, on the floor, hanging, old lures, new lures, broken lures, and lures in production. Looks just like what my wife refers to as the "lure room", lol. Enter at your own risk!

Location: mpls | Larry is always thinking! That's what makes him a great fisherman.
He brought some lures over to my shop that were WAAYYY different than anything I have seen. The were potentially self propelled- to a point. When I talk lures with other lure makers, they are usually just like me. We talk about wood and the different attributes. We talk about sealers, topcoats, etc....
Larry talks about chemical make up, the theory of relativity, gravitational properties,etc.
One of the reasons I like fishing is because there are so many different approaches. This holds true for lure making to. I think that is the thing that makes us all keep building. It's cool that there are so many diferent angles to solve a problem.
If any of you are planning on making it to the Minnesota show(aka Georges show), Larry will be there as will Alumalite. Alumalite makes great products and all of the employees are Great to deal with. I would highly recommend stopping at their booth
