 Tigers have been stocked in huge numbers in New Mexico and the fishery is superb! I'm opening a year-round guide service for pike and tiger muskies, along with an online pike/musky shop March of 2009. Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot		I guess what happened is that so many people in AZ and NM were dumping their goldfish in the waters that they were having a seriously negative impact on the trout streams. They introduced tigers to handle the goldfish and from the accounts I've heard they've done a great job. I'm going to guess that Creamcicle Dawgs are the bait of choice

I can't imagine pike and tigers having a real positive effect on a trout fishery though either. Troutcicles?

There have been Tiger Muskies in Washington State for well over a decade, maybe even two decades, I'm not sure.

In the southern part of the state there is a good population in Mayfield Reservoir.

Back in the 1990's when I lived in Washington State we'd go and fish there. Some decent success. The weird thing is you'd see photos of anglers with muskies gutted like they would a salmon. They truly didn't know what they had. At the time the vast majority of anglers out there were definitely salmon and trout folks and meat hunters.

Location: Oregon		I think they have been put in about 10 lakes now in the state of Washington for about 12 years. A new "minimum size" restriction of 50 inches went into effect in 2008 which will protect nearly all tigers from being kept by the unknowing perch or trout fisherman. Although anglers may have gutted the fish in the early days just about everyone now knows what a musky is and there is a strong number of anglers that target them exclusively.

As for the affect on trout, consumption studies in Washington Lakes have shown that the tigers will first focus on rough fish such as northern pikeminnow and suckers before turning to trout.

I think the stocking rates of the tigers in our lakes out west are far lower than what one might be used to in the midwest. Nevertheless, in recent years we have been seeing some very large fish including some at or very near 50 inches.

Jed,

A friend of mine, Joel Shangle, he's an outdoor writer and radio show host in Seattle, shares similar opinions regarding what you've said.

Washington State has some fantastic opportunities for muskies and other warmwater species as well.

Location: Oregon		Yea, the fishing is very good out here, we are lucky. Bass fishing is excellent and of course we have salmon, steelhead, and monstrous white sturgeon. I do wish more lakes had musky in them but many here are afraid to death of them getting into our salmon rivers. I live in Oregon and as of yet they will have no part of musky anywhere in the state, including sterile tiger musky.

 tigers are found in Bluewater lake next to the town of Grants, and Quemado lake, south of Albuquerque. The department of Game and Fish plan to expand the program. 10,000 tigers are stocked each year into Quemado and 4 times that many in Bluewater Lake.
