| I lost a very good friend today. Russ was one of the clients I always looked forward to fishing with when I was guiding in the 80's; we became friends and angling buddies since that time. He caught numerous muskies out of my rig on Pelican over the years, and took two of my favorite pictures; one of a 49" we caught in November, and another of a sunset over Pelican Lake.
Rusty Roehl was a gentle, kind man who lived to fish and hunt. He retired only a year ago.
He passed away today suddenly while working on his yard, another passion of his. We just talked yesterday about some rods he needed and set up a fishing trip.
He was Darrel's Wabigoon Lake boat partner for over 10 years, and Darrel's best friend. We shared many stories at the dock on the Goon, and at the dinner table, too.
Rusty, I will miss you, my friend.[:blackeye:] [:blackeye:] [:blackeye:] [:blackeye:] [:blackeye:] |

| Steve, this came as a complete shock. Rusty was a great guy and will surely be missed. Just take solice in the fact that now he is fishing with his grandson (Jake if memory serves me correct) and sharing time together.
I will treasure my "Dog Turd" all the more now.
Although Rusty will be missed by family and friends, always remember that he is in a better place. |

| Your world must be sadder at your loss. I've been there and know how you feel, but think of him at special times , like a sunset on the lake, and smile at him as you make your last cast, for he will always be with you. I am saddened, for friends are truely special.
