Headed up to St Germain next weekend (Oct 17-19). I had good luck with DCG's this summer in that area and wondering how cold of water temps people still use them. We will have three in the boat so should one guy still be throwing them and the others jerks and plastics until we find a partern? Also have the lakes in that area turned over yet?

No reason to stop using them all the way until ice up. Slow down as the water gets colder. But they don't stop working.

Don't stop throwing them until they are bouncing off the top of the ice.

The lake have not turn up in saint germain area. I retured from there on thursday and the water temps were 57-59 and with this warm weather this weekend they will not turn till around 52-54 degrees. The muskys are still in shallow water and weedlines. The weeds are starting to die. Turn over is still 2 week out.

What are DCG's? I am not familiar with this acronym. Is this a type or brand of lure?

DCG = Double Cow Girl. It is a double bladed spinner bait that uses 2, #10 Colorado blades and flashabo made by Musky Mayhem tackle.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep on throwing them!

magnum - Did you move and catch fish? We are wondering if we will reschedule for the end of October once the lakes have turned.

I disagree with Magnums 2 weeks out prediction for turnover in vilas/oneida. It will happen much sooner with this next cold snap.
I would say this weekend on smaller lakes.
all baits work til the end. even topwaters
