Well I've decided on my boat. Gonna go with a Predator 1810 Sport w/115 opti. Apparently this boat will do 50mph. Do you guys think this is doable? Consitering it weights only 965lbs, I can't wait to see....should get up there anyhow. The speed helped with the choice, but the kicker is that this boat seemed to be the only Aluminum option that has raised casting decks in a deep-v hull. Price was darn good, and looks pretty cool with the tribal black/white decal package. This winter is gonna be waaaaayyyyyy too long!

Anyone have any negatives on the boat before I take the plunge on Monday?

Wow, sounds like a cool boat. I've seen those, and I do like the casting deck on them.

Also, does anyone have a prop recommendation for this boat? For top speed? For fuel economy?

For the barebones B,M,T w/starting battery for 21,499USD. (includes freight & pdi) Thankfully my dealer works on US dollars and hopefully we hit 2% or lower! I'm gonna see what transpires in the market today, and if it looks like it may go lower I may wait a couple days or maybe a week to sign. Definatly before the new president comes in though. Heck, I'm gonna go bonkers if I see it before March....I can see it now, buzzing around Safety Bay mid-January. Or sitting in Winnipeg Water Sports with the boat on the showroom floor, me sitting in it rod in hand, and when someone asks what I'm doing I'll say, "I'M TROLLING LEAVE ME ALONE!"

That sounds pretty reasonable.
As far as top speed, if you check the Merc website they test the 115 on a 1700 Explorer SS and get 43.6 mph. Wider boat, slightly heavier and aluminum prop, so probably would get a couple more mph, but I don't know about 50. Could be close. Maybe somebody else with more knowledge will chime in.
Did you consider the 4stroke?

I did consider the 4-stroke but decided against. The opti's price is right, has more power, is lighter, and apparently sips about the same amount of gas that the 4 does.

Looks like a wicked boat, but I don't think it will get anywhere near 50mph. Should be a wicked boat/motor nonetheless.

It's the one they show in the new brochure. Black boat w/ a big White Lund symbol wraped in tribal stuff. Looks mean.

Just purchased the 2010 Predator SS with the 225 optimax SX. Love the whole set up. Was looking at the tiller and was told to wait that they were coming out with the SS. Sure glad I did....you can hold a square dance on the raised deck.
Top speed I've seen so far is right at 55mph with four blade SS prop. Plenty fast for me! It sure gets up out of the water fast and is a great ride at top speed.
No matter how fast you get her going I think your gonna love that rig!!
Good Luck, Dennis
