These are awesome hooks. I got some from Cabela's to try them out. Have just ordered straight from VMC wholesale. All you need is a tax ID number or business license number and you can buy from their bulk catalog. Much cheaper than Cabela's.

FYI

The VMC factory is in Eastern France. They have been making hooks for years. Their US distributor headquarters is in ST. Paul Minnesota.

I like the idea but the hook only goes to 3/0 and it is 6X strong with a shank that is very thick. I would be afraid that it might be to thick and penetration might be hampered. Just like Owners hooks the nice thin shanked and sharp ones do not go big enough and the salt water ones have a very thick shank.

Check out the VMC #5686 in-line, they are 4X not 6X , they are O'shaughnessy bend, cone cut, super sharp and they go to 5/0. Cabela's does not carry these you have to get them from the Manufacturer's catalog from VMC direct or "Shorty's Hooks". They come in red, bronze and Perma steel. I just bought some and they are awesome......

Rod - OK I did not catch that one, you are right it does look good. They would work great for hard baits. Do they have good hooking and holding properties. I have been using Eagle Claw 774s and have had very good hooking and holding since switching to them, and they hold a point good also.

I really like all the VMC hooks. I have been using them for years. The ones I used to use for Muksy baits were the 7650s and they were real good and sharp, but I think these will be better. I guess it's what you are confident in. I am sure the Eagle Claws are great also, but I have always used VMC for my Musky baits. I have never had a problem with hooking and holding fish. I tend to go with the cone cut because I believe they penetrate faster and easier even in bone. MHO
