Consdiering population density, I am willing to wager a large number of the people who frequent this board reside in the suburbs of Chicago, or not too far from there. I see lots of work going into planning exteneded weekend outings great distances from Chicago. However, many of us have our vaction time accounted for already with trips we booked last year. Is anyone interested in a weekend or single day gig not so far from Chicago that can be done without burning vaction time?

Ideas that come to mind:
MadTown Chain
Shelbyville - would have to be done when other lakes are more attractive (read spring)
The Fox Chain -(YUK) would have to be near the end of the season
Pewaukee - Probably fishes a little too small to have an outing on

Lunch Box,

Sounds like a great idea! I would definitely show up for that one, can't get away long enogh for the other trips. Don't forget about Shabby either, depending on how many people we have show up, could be a nice set up with the camp grounds and all.

Being that the nutty crazy boating season in IL is just around the corner, I would vote for November (middle) or December. Might be a good chance for Wisconsonites to extend their seasons a little bit, and to see who can tough out the weather. The where of it? Doesn't really matter to me, Shabby might be too small if we have 15+ boats plus the usual traffic, the Chain stinks overall, Kinkaid is too far for most, which leaves basically Shelbyville....which I guess would be my vote. And I am raising my hand to volunteer to help organize; Cady was on me a few months ago about this very same thing already.

I’m interested. Shelbyville sounds good to me too, how about we all take a day off and do it during the week?

Lunch-

I am in, even if its the puke ridden chain, thats the Fox! We can have an outing as soon as this weekend in IL. Why not have it early, gives all the rest of the world a chance. I am in for whatever lakes are decided.

Sure great idea when Lunchie suggests it, but when I suggested in in December nobody seems interested. You can all kiss my ass.

Now we've gone and got Hebeda's undies in a bunch. What's with the people on this board? First we've got slamr out there berating people and boo hoo'ing about his issues, for which there are many, and now we've got Hebeda in a tizzy. Is everybody getting a little goofy? Is cabin fever getting that bad?

But seriously -
Getting everybody to agree about when and where within a reasonable distance of chicago will be like trying to get the stars to line up. Since everybody is starting to throw their hat in the ring with ideas here's mine...

Madtown is at least a decent fishery compared to Kane county's finest carp pond (read chain) and only 2hrs from Chicago and less from Milwaukee. The right time to go is not the spring with the PMT scheduled there in May and prefishing likely begining at opener. Perhaps June and/or Sept?

Shelbyville is a long way for anyone north of Chicago. It also has issues with timing. Who wants to go all the way down there in May (when it's good on shelby) considering Southern WI and several other points are also getting good by then.

The chain...well what can I say, it sucks, but it is close and as such may make it easier for more people to make it. Timing is an issue. To Running_Hot's point, we'd have to do it soon or it just wouldn't be a good idea. Souther WI opens in May and all the idiot recreational boaters will start uncovering their rigs in May also.

My vote is for the chain in the weekend of the 13th or 20th.

Why not hit them all. Shelbyville in April, Fox Chain in May and Mad town in June.

That's my two cents and you all can still kiss my ass.

Any thought to fishing Webster?

There will be 40 boats out there instead of the usual 20. I suggest Tippicanoe or the Barbee Chain. More water and less pressure. Evergreen might be cool too. What do you guys think?

I can't believe someone suggested web! That pond is going to choke on all the traffic it will get this spring because everybody has heard too much about it. I've been on it for a couple outings and it was just too crowded. I'm out if it's web.
