A massive heat wave kept me off the water, how did everyone else do?

Worked til 10pm Fri night, drove three and half hours to Minocqua, row trolled with six baits at 2.5mph for 4 hours = 60 miles of lure coverage with friend J. Sloan, nothing but a damaged trailer from drunks whippin' doughnuts, an hour of sleep, drove back to Appleton, worked 1 - 10pm.

Got on the water for about 3 hours Saturday morning. Picked up a 37 and a 35; one trolling and one casting. The water is starting to come down now; it's dropped about 3 feet in the last 2 weeks. Air temps are hot here (100+) but the water is still mid 70s on the surface. Spent the rest of the weekend getting things ready for vacation. Heading to Minnesota Thursday. This was my last trip locally prior to leaving - good way to head out.

water temps too high to fish here...

so i washed/waxed the boat, installed a new trolling motor, and spent the rest of the weekend sanding and staining my hardwood floors.

leaving wednesday night for a 2 week trip to Minnesota waters!

Had a decent weekend with a pretty good amount of activity in St. Germain area. Lots of follows, a couple blow-ups and a fish in the boat on each of two days. Nothing big but at least I saw some action. Hot temps seemed to bother the fishermen more than the fish. Still getting most hits on smaller sized baits. What's up with that? They seem to follow the big stuff but eat the little baits more frequently. Anybody else having this type of result?

Hello. Fished 3-Lakes chain Sat and Sun. Saturday a 42 1/4" tiger and a 38. Sunday 35 and a 36. I was surprised how shallow the fish and the bait were. 82.5 surface temp Saturday and 80 Sunday. The deep water bite was really off. Was hard pressed to find any bait schooled up over deeper water. Pretty weird. Jerry

It's kind of funny to see posts by a couple of people stating they are coming to fish here in MN, when just this morning I got an e-mail from a member of my MI Chapter asking if we are going to cancel our League night this week.

I'm on the border in West Central MN., and the air temp was 107 degrees Saturday, and the water temp has risen to 79.5 degrees. We may cancel this week's outing, as we don't really want to look like we're promoting Muskie fishing in those conditions. I heard there were quite a few floaters down in Indiana recently due to the hot weather.

The temps may come downa bit, but the coolest high temp for the next week is supposed to be 85 degrees. It may take a while to cool the lake water down.
