Posts: 1534 Location: Brighton CO. | My late dad started fishing up North in 1936 when he was four years old, not many Muskies but they saw some giants swimming by the boat so big they could not even put a size on them. My dad did get a 30+ pounder when he was 17. During the 70's and 80's we got lot's of fish but for the most part they were smaller fish. On July 1st 1977 my dad was hooked up with a fish over 40 pounds but it got off. 25 years later to the day he released a fish in Canada with was bigger. Our largest fish. I got my largest fish in 1999 Minnesota. My dad has passed away we used to fish two weeks in Canada at this time of year and a week in the fall in Wisconsin or Minnesota. Now I get back to Wisconsin every other year in the fall. I could really use a new PB. I will be 65 in October when I take my trip, last time I caught a 50" was nine days after my 39th birthday. I've caught muskies on suckers and by trolling but my favorite way is to cast. I cast 5-six days a week for a hour in a pond in my town and work out in my home gym. My dad got his PB at 17 then broke it at right before his 71th birthday. Fishing dark Flowage water and in the fall we don't see the fish down in water like when fishing clear Trout water.

Posts: 7076 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Got my biggest last year, just under that the year before, and my first over 50 like 4 years before that one. Only took me 25 years of fishing to crack 50, and now they're alllllll easy. JOKING!

Posts: 16 Location: Wright County MN | I have a buddy who has scope pretty dialed and in the rare occasion I fish with him he wont make a cast unless the mark looks like a 50+. So for him probably multiple every year.

I've done it for big walleyes and find it...less than satisfying to be honest.

I would agree its not super fun but then again when you can watch him make 1 cast within 30mins of launching and net a 55” for him on a pressured lake it makes it pretty tough to not have second thoughts on it.

Posts: 1295 Location: WI | Longest (trolling) 2015, heaviest 2014, longest casting 2 weeks ago. They show up when they do. Scoping is unethical in my opinion.

This isn't muskie fishing.

Posts: 130 Location: Roscoe IL | Ive got livescope on my boat, and just about every other electronic gadget. 90% of my muskies come when i dont have the livescope on, not sure if that makes me a crap fishermen, or a crap tech user. when I am using the scope, its during a drift, pointing in the direction of cast. It has helped me know I had a follow in dark water. I dont agree with chasing a fish down and bouncing lures off his nose until he bites, maybe id feel different if I actually had the patience to do that, but I dont.

Have AT2 on my Tuffy on a turret, use mine the same way. Like anything else, it's all in how you use it.
