There is a small banner on the top of the page that says right now there are 92 other users online, 2 members and 90 guests. Why don't the guests register? The site is free as far as I know. If you stay out of the basement people here are pretty level headed. Register and start a topic maybe the members can learn something new or maybe you can add something we haven't heard of. I know people always like to hear about trips others have taken, particularly Canadian trips.

Join, we won't bite.

I would second what Brian said. If folks don't register for fear of getting solicitations to buy, etc., that does not happen. You will see some ads, but that is it.

It doesn't necessarily mean they are unregistered perhaps just not signed into their profile, or you can also have your online status and profile name turned off in the control panel - which would display you as a guest - sort of incognito mode on here

There are thousands of people registered how many active users who come on a regular basis let lone throw in there two cents.
Things we can share trip info, equipment info, places we been and sharing our stories. Time on the water is short so come on here and if nothing else it cures cabin fever. How many times we find a web sight and the last time someone posted was eight years ago.

Why go to a site where you have to be controlled in your responses when there's facebook where you can act however you want?

Sorry. Had to.

Case-in-point: I visit this site a dozen or so times a day. I'm always reading. But...sadly...I'll admit: I'm just lurking.

Meaning. I visit here dozens of times a day, but not Logged In. So...I'm seen by this site as a "guest."

Guilty as charged.

Been a Member here on this site since October of 2004. But rarely Log In and rarely post. As seen by my low post count.

I refuse to go to and/or use facebook, spacebook, his space, her space, instant gram, snap chat, blah, blah, blah, blah and the other 10,000 social media sites.

No time for any of it.

Period.

How many of these "guests" are actual people browsing the site? I had assumed that most of them were bots, data scrapers, automated systems looking for security vulnerabilities, etc.

We block most of that garbage.

I stay logged in until my phone or my computer decide to log me off for no apparent reason. Then I log back in when I have something to say, which is most of the time anyway.
