| Here's a new wooden spinnerbait I'm working on. Will this 0.041" diameter stainless lock-wire hold up to toothy critters?

| Thanks! They would definitely bend it, but my thoughts with this specific wire are that it could be bent and straightened a lot without breaking. Nate Marling (Marling Baits) makes this type of bait (with the wire spun together) and he uses this wire as well. I got the idea from one of his YouTube videos.

Location: SE, WI. | Spinnerbaits is a type of bait that needs to be evaluated after each and every Fish. Some wire baits last 1-2 fish, some last 8-10 fish. Wire fatigues! If your looking for critiques, the space between the nose, and wire, looks like a weed and grass collector , if you plan on pulling this through weeds . Maybe move the wire down to front of nose , or slightly below. JD

| I like the concept and have been playing around with that kind of idea myself. That wire even though haywired kinda looks like it would be flimsy for large predators? Tough to tell I could be wrong ( I also read the tackleunderground post). It should be strong enough as in tensile strength, just not sure what would happen and how bad it would bend once a fish gets it, or particularly in the net (hook thrashing fish in a net often is hard on lures). Then how many times could you bend it back with out weaking it is the real question?
I have had three ace tandem spinnerbaits break on me! First one i'll blame on myself, probably bending the spinnerbait back and forth too much, but the other two i was careful with. Test it out a bit. Make another wire harness, and bend it back and forth till failure? Not exactly scientific, but might provide some interesting information good or bad. |
