Posts: 676 Location: Wisconsin | The ad in the new Musky Hunter says 30lb of drag, Abu confirmed with me it's 25lb. fyi
Also, not too happy about them not including the balanced power handle. That's a hard pass on that jigging handle.

Posts: 259 | maybe they got their beasts confused? According to the abu garcia website only the revo 40 Beast (2018) has 30lb of drag The revo TORO Beast/Rocket T3 (2019), revo TORO Beast T2 (2015) and revo 40 Beast X (2019) all have 25 lb of drag.

Why don’t you like the jigging handle? It’s longer then the balanced handle.

Posts: 676 Location: Wisconsin | I bet it's the 40. Thanks. A bit misleading. I don't like the jigging handles because they can engage the reel during cast as the weight of the knob moves. This was an issue with other Toro's (and other reels) in the past and the NaCL was notorious for this issue and is why the other beast comes with the other handles. Those handles were not designed for casting, but for jigging saltwater.

Posts: 32927 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Got it, thought it may be. I have one of the first 40s built, and really love that reel.

Posts: 499 Location: Northern Illinois | I think the engaging issue is overstated. I use the unbalanced power handles with all my AGs and no problem. Handle forward when cast.

Posts: 6 | Muskiemetal - 7/18/2019 12:37 PM I bet it's the 40. I've had to replace one ratchet, and two stoppers as a result of this. I absolutely hate the sound the reel makes when your casting a 5oz lure and it engages right as soon as you let your thumb off the spool. I've had it happen with the power handle too. Luckily I fixed the proble with stronger springs. Even with the problems, still love the beast. Haven't fished anything better.
