I was just wondering what rod and reel combo you guys thought was by far the best. I just graduated from high school and my parents agreed to buy me a rod and reel of my choice. I already chose it but was wondering what you guys thought was the best. I got a 7'2" light bucktail G-Loomis with a Calcutta 400 with level wind.

Thanks,

BrettC

It must be nice to have rich parents.LOL

The set up you got is great. I would have had the rod custom made at Thorne Bros. in Minneapolis,MN. This way for the same $$$ you could of had the action, rod and handle lenght that best fits you.

Thanks for the help. Is there a website available for Thorne Bros. or do I have to call them with my order.

Once again, thanks a lot,

I was just wondering how come it kept duplicating what I put on this topic. It seems pretty weird that I replied 4 or 5 times with the same thing and Steve Cady replied 2 times with the same thing. I was just wondering.

You cant go wrong with a Tony Rizzo rod with a Corsair reel.[;)]

If you can afford it get a diamondback from Thorne Bros.If it's out of your price range ,like it is mine,Get the 6'10 custom made All-Star.Being a devout St.Croix man it's hard to believe that the All -star is now my fav rod.It works with just about everything.
