| Got my boat out of storage and found a massive short and melted a ton of wires in my boat. Does anyone know where i could get a complete wiring harness for a 1991 princecraft? |

| They only keep parts for the current year and 5 previous years. |

Location: Eastern Ontario | Boat layouts are fairly constant and I would think the harness from a current like sized model would work. Hopefully only boat wiring involved and not motor and electronics. |

| This picture comes from the transom and goes into the motor. But i cant even find where in the boat it goes to

Location: Mayville, WI | That picture looks a bunch more like outboard wires than a boat harness, especially if you can't find where it goes in the boat... Call around to local outboard service centers / dealers (Johnson?), but I'd be very worried about further internal motor damage looking at that.

Location: MN | I have to ask - assuming the last time you used it everything was okay and in good working order, then you put the rig in storage, and you take it out of storage to find this - who/when/how would it have been started or run to cause a short that would have caused this type of melting or damage? |

| Yeah everything was fine when i put it away. It was hooked up to a battery tender for the winter. I dont know if a mouse chewed through the wires or what. I havent found one. I dont know what could have happened |

Location: Almond, WI | This last June, my '96 Smokercraft nearly started on fire. The only reason I caught it was because I had an extra cup of coffee that morning and pulled into a gas station, mostly to pee, but got gas and do my walk around (check bearings/trailer tires, etc.) and smelled that electrical fire smell and see smoke starting to come out of my battery compartment. I quickly unhooked the battery and extinguished the battery box and the aft below deck access. What happened was a screw loosened on a metal rear deck support and the wiring harness worked its way under, cut through the insulation and shorted out. Fortunately we saved the wiring harness, only a couple spots needed to be repaired. Now we rigged up a master fuse system to hopefully prevent this, besides tightened the screws and added some new insulation around the harness. Not fun. Wiring harnesses seem pretty close to universal so you can probably get one to work. Maybe Princecraft has a schematic for you to work from. |

Location: MN | Ahh, that sucks. I guess it's possible then unless the batteries are pulled and hooked up separately to always have that risk |

Location: Hayward, WI | The 2 big wires go to your trim pump, the smaller wires are for your trim sender. You might make sure that you have all the ground wires hooked up on your battery, have seen something similar when main ground wires where not hooked up to the battery. If it is just the wires shown in picture they are not part of the wire harness, they are separate. |
