If you could have only one or the other which would it be? Mostly for trolling but will cast it some of the time. Which dives deeper?

I'd have to take the Grandma. Where I fish, they just seem to prefer them, and I've had a lot better luck. That being said, my friend's 54" from the same lake came on a 10" Jake. I guess its all how you work it.

I'm asking if a Jake or a Grandma is preferred. Probably 9''

jake makes a  8",10"-14"

 grandma makes a 9"& 13"

The new  bent lip 9" grandma runs about 1 ft deeper than a 10" jake with same amounts of line out.

The old M-9 Grandma runs about 1 ft. Shallower than the 10" Jake.""           "".                ""

Action wise, the best was the M-9 grandma IMO.  The new bent lip grandma's 9" , I don't care for the action as much as the 10" jake.

Why they got rid of the M-9 makes NO sense. people loved that bait. The only fault I found with the old M-9 was the eyelets were a tad small, and when you got a big fish in the net, the eyelets would bend and crack the plastic .

 We've got 1 / 40 lber on a M-9, and 3 / 40 lber's  on 10" Jakes.

I thought I saw in the R&H catalogue straight lipped Grandmas although not called M9. The Gan Gang I hang and fish with always said Grandmas faster in warmer water Jakes when you slow down for colder water. Personally I can't see the difference but I've been switching ti Hose Daddy's.

For casting Grandma especially M9

I understand now. Didn't realize that Jakes aren't made 9'' long. You guys have answered my question regardless. Thanks

I prefer the Grandma but still use Jakes too. I mostly cast and twitch them, only an occasional troller.

I am a big fan of the 9" grandma jerk model. I am not a fan of the 8" jakes but I do really like the 10" jakes for casting and twitching over shallower water.

The 9" jerk model Grandma is awesome. I've only caught 2 fish on Jakes. Dozens of fish on Grandmas! They WAY out produce Jakes in my boat. I sold all of my 10" Jakes except the one I caught a fish on. Jakes look great, but I can't buy a fish on one.
