A while back someone posted looking for a cheaper alternative to the many styles of bait keeping tackle boxes
out there... I stumbled across this looking for something else...

http://www.muskiebucket.com/index.php

Interesting idea... could modify it to make it a little more useful... never know...

Not a bad idea but you can only get 19-20 baits in it thats over a buck a bait for storage

I built hatches into the casting deck of my boat, and keep all my lures in plano storage boxes.

Flambeau Maximizer boxes are $40, I've got around 80 baits in it.

Get an old plastic milk crate, the rectangular one.

Buy a bunch of plastic square downspout, cut to length on a table saw with a sharp blade....go slow so it doesn't chip.

You can also fit plano's in the milk crates too.

Along those lines, I put scrap pieces of the plastic downspout in a 5 gallon pickle bucket, now I have a small-boat sized lure bucket. I do like the idea of a leader hanger. Hmmm. Have to work on that.....m

I had a Wal*Mart hanging folder file box sitting around the house and turned it into a bait box. The box holds those standard hanging file folders. I cut the plastic down spouts to length and they fit perfectly. Can accomodate some pretty large baits. Cost was minimal.

Some quality ideas coming out of this... I like it.

I agree, I need to incorporate a better leader stashing device. AFChief, I like the box, do you drill holes for air flow too?

A couple of enhancements to the file folder box...

1) Drill holes in bottom to allow it to drain
2) take a piece of plastic tarp, fold it over and tape it to the inside of the lid. Then take some velcro and line the three edges as well as put two strips on the inside - it's a perfect place to store your leaders.

I made some vent holes molded in the top rim and I added some in the bottom. I normally leave my baits sitting out until they dry before I put them away.
