Was curious if 8'6" was long enough to figure 8 out of a 17 foot boat like a deep v tuffy or lund? Does the extra 6 inches stop you from having to lean over at all? Thanks.

I perosnally prefer the 9 but 8'6 works too. I used to have a Lund and now fish out of a Ranger. That being said I have an 8' 6 Sling Blade that is my go to Top Water/ Shallow Invadar/ 10 inch or smaller Crank Rod and it works fine...

THis is based off my 6'4 frame...

Fish out of a Tuffy 1760 deep V....

All my rods are 8'6 --you will have no problem with the figure using those rods....

Also tall at 6'7

Both should work for you. Also take into consideration the length of the handle. Example, our 9' rods are 9' but with an 18" handle they work more like an 8'6" with an extended handle vs a 9' rod with a 14" handle. But again, IMO both an 86 and 9 rod should work great out of that boat.

8'6" works better for me. i think the 9' rods are just too long. The perfect length i have found is 8'3" and wish more people made that size.

Same here...but I'm 5'11".

I'll echo James' comments about handle length. My rods (mostly custom) all have long handles and I believe it makes figure-8-ing that much easier on the back.

Agreed, I prefer a 8'6"(factory 14" handle) rod with the handle extended 4-5" finishing up at 8'10"-8'11" overall length.

8'5" Custom X is the perfect rod for every lure in the box.

Love my 9 ft Tackle Industries rods. They fish closer to an 86 rod with the long handles but the long handles make all the difference when fishing all day.
