I am looking for a 1-4oz rod. It'll be used for smaller baits like bucktails and jerks. I have a TI 9' and love it but looking for what else the experts suggest.

1-4oz area
Under $100
8' +/- 6"

I use to use lighter musky rods for casting lighter baits on LSC. Have a Shimano Compre MH 7'6" & a Cabelas Tourney Trail MH 7'6" that handle up to 3 oz lures. I don't use them anymore because I've been throwing heavier baits so I should sell them so I can buy more baits. The Compre retails around $110 to $120 & the Cabelas rod goes for around $60. Gander Mt. has some of their lighter musky rods that handle up to 5 oz lures & they go for around $30 to $60.

I've tried a few of the less expensive rods (some of which have already been mentioned) and I really think it is hard to beat a TI Rod at that price point. Again, those other rods are nice, but some felt a little heavier or didn't come in those longer lengths. After my experimentation and experience with several rod brands, I have settled on G Loomis and TI for muskie.

Disclaimer: This is based on my own personal experience and comfort. I purposely did not name other brands I didn't feel as satisfied with so as not to pass negative judgment. Again, this is just my unprofessional opinion.

It's hard to beat TI rods for price and quality. I just built myself another XH.

I really like the gander rods myself, but have friends that like their TI and Compres too, all at a good price point.
