Anyone use? I'm looking for a little lighter reel to put on my top-n-tail. Used a new ABU Record this year but its just to fast and I didn't like it at all. Love the Calcutta 400B, have one on my heavier rod, but looking for a lighter set up.

I've got two that mostly have been used for catfish, but one has been recently pushed into musky duty. They cast pretty good and are smooth enough, but only time will tell about longevity. I don't cast a lot of double tens or use a lot of hard pulling baits so for me I think they will do OK.

First musky reel I ever bought, works fine for a while. Actually used it up in Canada for a week as my primary reel (after my Record crapped out) pulling double tens all week, made all sorts of weird noises that seemed to go away each night! Sent mine in this past fall for maintenance and they sent me a new one! I think the Corvalus is a good beginner/light use reel. I'd rather have a Corvalus than a Record any day.

ya its not going to be used fro any real heavy spinner baits or dbl-10's. Mostly maribou's, smaller top waters, ect. I'll give it a shot and see! Hopefully its better than the #*^@ Record.

if you can, add about $35 and get the cardiff. It's a tad better and still around $100.

It's an ok bottom level reel for jerkbaits.
The Cardiff is a nice deal for 8" crank type lures and topwaters.

They work o.k. I've used one sparingly for two years and it still performs fine. Muskie fishing eats reels, so I don't expect it to last too long, but then I don't use it very often, so who knows.

I have two that get used by a couple buddys when their in my boat. They used them all summer with everything big blades, whatever. They worked fine, when they started making wierd noises i just used a little oil and they went back to normal. Have had them two years havent broke. For the price their a good deal. Would use one over a record for sure.

I have a Corvalus and it has had moderate use as an all-purpose muskie reel. I am planning on getting a 7'2" XH Compre rod for large cranks and planned to use the Corvalus (5.2:1). Any thoughts or suggestions?

I will now be using an ABU C-4 (6.4:1) on my 7'6" MH rod for bucktails.

I have three of them and they work fine for me. But I am an amateur and what do I know. I also have an Abu Garcia 6500C3; and I would say they are comparable, except that the Corvalus has a thumb bar release and the 6500C3 has a button. I'm sure that as in all things, you get what you pay for.
