Posts: 3913 | I'm going to be working on a 18' Astro Fish/Ski boat for next summer. It has a walk thru windshield and I'm thinking that the boat would be better for fishing if it were gone. I have to take it off to buff out the boat anyway. And I saw the very same boat on BBC where the guy left it off and it looked great. What would you do? Oh, the boat has a 150 Black Max and research about these boats says it can hit 70mph. I was thinking of wearing my chain saw full face mask if raining, bugs, so I can see while flying. Again, lose the windshield??

Posts: 81 Location: Indiana | I have fished out of three boats that had the full wind screen and have never had a problem with them while fishing. We even land fish by leading them to the guy with the net in the back. You can still fish three people out of the boat as well. Plus they rock when it's wet and cold. Posts: 360 Location: Tinley Park. Fish Cen IL. Bass & Vilas Cty.Muskie | I say, Keep the windshield on your boat. It can help you get up and down in rough water from the front deck(light presure hand rail). It can be like a glove compartment to store a few things when fishing. It can help a ton when it is cold in the morning(under 60-hehe) and especially when it is raining. It helps support a cover which it looks like you need. The only reason to take it off is to move one half closer to the other to make a nice snug fit if it's a full windshield. . After 8/10 years of bouncing on the water alot of times a full windshield developes a gap when closed.

Posts: 27 | I always thought I wanted a boat with a single console until I was on leech one day with a 30 mph wind out of the NW...with my bow cover we hardly got wet at all behind those windshields. Now I would never have a boat with out them.
