Location: Des Moines IA | If you can only have 1 musky rod. I would recommend the Okuma 8'6 XH. It's a high quality rod, lifetime warranty, and wil handle the majority of musky lures. |

Location: N.FIB | if you go to any of the shows you can look at the rods then, look at a few that people suggest and then buy.one thing is the warranty info,st croix has great customer srevice when it comes to that, you can`t go wrong buying a st croix.I have only heard that from friends,I`ve never had one of my st croixs break or have a problem with them. |

or in a combo. |

I've got a few Shimano Compre rods which I'm very happy with, and they are great value for the money. |

Location: Chicagoland | I say go with either a shimano compre or a fig rig. Both are cheap , but very sturdy for the price. |

| I would agree with the compre. I have both the heavy and the extra heavy, both 8' and can't complain. Shimano customer service is also exceptional. |
