Location: Richland Center, WI. | Thinking about trying some planer boards to get the lures out for trolling. Did a search to see what you guys may be using but still not sure what to buy. Checked the walleye site and it seems the choices are narrowed down to Off Shore brand or Church boards . How do they work with the super braids? Would heavy mono be a better choice? What are you guys using out there?

I use offshore boards with or-16 clips in the front and and or-18's in the back for super braids and haven't lost a board yet. I've never experimented with mono and muskie. I know there are a few others on here that use mono. |

Location: Racine, Wi | I use the off shores and upgrade the clips to the OR-18 snap releases in the front and use snaps for the back, which don't release, but if for some reason your front clip releases, the boards just slide down the line to the leader. http://www.offshoretackle.com/prelease.htm They hold mono and braid just fine and have done duty with muskies and screaming salmon on the Big Pond.
I think you'll here differing opinions on which people prefer, but you can't go wrong with either the Off Shore or Church boards. |

| I use church tackle boards. They have an adjustable spring clamp, holds super braided line really well. I have both styles, the 22's and the walleye boards. They both work fine for me. |

| Been using the YellowBird Big Birds since they came out with the Osprey releases, with no complaints. Running 80lb P.P. and 30lb mono. |

You might get some drag on the boards when running hard pulling baits. Shouldn't be a problem though. Run a little more line off your boards, and they'll keep clear of your other lines. Sometimes, keeping a lower rod angle to the water with the off shores will keep the board digging in a little better. |
