Went fishing yesterday, in a local reservoir in CO, I saw 12 tigers most were 30 and under and a couple were 40+. They were laying up sunning in the rocks on the dam, I threw every thing I had at them and they wouldn’t even make a move until I got close enough to spook them off into deeper water. The conditions were understandably poor, clear skies light wind and mid afternoon but I still cant believe they wouldn’t even acknowledge the presence of my lure. By the time I left I was very frustrated, although it was pretty cool to see so many fish. Does any one have any experience with this?
Nick.

I had the same thing happen to me 3 weeks ago on Eagle lake. Similar conditions, hot, sunny, mid afternoon, no wind...

One point off an island had 4 30-36" fish and one mid 40's. Only had lazy follows. The mid 40's fish swam alongside the boat as we backtrolled mocking us for several minutes. Went back later in the evening and saw the mid 40's fish and a smaller one on follows but they wouldn't strike.

They are full and not hungry.

Ran into te same on Mille Lacs north end sand, 3 feet of water, fish all over and nothing will hit! Its the same evey year in july...Kind of fun to look at them....Lots of boats doing the same. If you come early or stay late there's a chance of a hook-up.

Try throwing a jig at them. If they are on the rocks they might not pass up something that looks like a crawfish. Large bass jig with a craw trailer, floro leader. Cast past fish, stop when it gets there and shake.

That is exactly it. Shake 'em in their face and they'll eat even if they aren't hungry. It's pretty cool to do and watch.
