| I have been using Spectron and Powerpro for the past couple seasons. Is it a wise investment to respool after each season's end with this stuff, or do I just keep on slingin'? I realize that someone who fishes occasionally can easily get by with the same superline longer than someone who is constantly punishing the stuff. How about you guide fellas,do you respool after each season? | |||

| I haven't used Spectron so I can't comment there, but I do use PowerPro on all of my baitcast reels. I do re-spool, but only after I've done the following. I don't use backing on my reels, preferring to tie the PowerPro directly to the spool and tape the line in place. After the line starts showing severe wear, I'll tie the used end to another reel and crank it on. This reverses the line and I can get 2 seasons out of the same line. | I agree with Steve. I do the very same thing. The stuffs too expensive (at least in Canada) to replace each year. Cheers, J.P. | |||

| Matt, I have around 10 rods that are used throughout the season between myself and guests in my boat. The rods are spooled in the following way. My personal rods: 2 with Cortland Spectron, black spot 1 with Tuff line 1 with Power pro The balance is mixed as I wanted to test them all and then pick one. I do have a few spooled with mono that I use for fishing creatures, they get respooled every season. I am not sponsored or on the pro-staff of a line manufacturer at this point, so my opinion is unbias and basically just my .02 cents worth. I regularly inspect the line for abrassion and almost always re-tie my knots once per week and always after a fish no matter the size. I will strip off worn line as inspection dictates. I reverse my lines when they have seen a fair amount of use (fair amount to me is full seson of hard use or two seasons of occassional use) This has worked for me quite well, the cost of these lines is prohibitive of treating it like mono and respooling at a whim. I have one rod that I personally use that completed it's fourth season with spectron and will not be respooled before spring. It will start it's second season after reversing the line. One of my close friends owns a tackle shop so I get to use his machine for reversing my lines. Doing it by hand on another reel will work, just be sure to keep it tight to eliminate binding. Spectron is quickly prooving to be my favorite, with Tuff coming in close second followed by power pro. Good luck, Mark Musky Adventures Eau Claire, WI | |||

| Ditto on reversing the line! You get two good seasons out of one spool. Saves some $$$. I have used 80lb Power Pro for the past three seasons and haven't had any problems. Best line I have ever used. | |||

| I use Power pro too, though I don't reverse my line, as I use a little mono backing and put on about 145 yards of P.P. on top. I respool with new stuff about 3 times per season(or after about 150-175 hours use). I fish in a stumpy/rocky river system roughly 30 hours per week(only get up north on the clean water on the weekends), so my line gets wore out fairly quickly. | |||

| I have been using the 50 pound Courtland Spectron and I has held up great. I bought a large bulk spool from Rollie & Helens this past year and respooled the 4 rods that I like to use the most. Prior to that, I respooled about every other year. The line doesn't seem to wear out, but I like to strip off about 3 to 4 feet of line and retie every time out. After a while the spool gets to small and it's difficult to cast far. This is the time for me to respool. | |||

| Let me see, I have several lures in my possesion at the current time that cost me upwards of $30.00 each (huhges river etc.) New Super Top Raiders that when purchased will be about $25.00 each at least. The cost of loosing one trully great fish because of bad line? PRICELESS.....Tuf & Power Pro are my choices in varying weights. Change often, why? When you weigh the cost of a broken line I would rather have one or two less rod and reel combos rather than skimp on my connection to what could be that fish of a lifetime. Just my thoughts on the matter. Let Em Go,,,Let Em Grow.....Mike | |||

| I have been using Berkley Ultra-Max for years and I have been fortunate to find a case of 60 pound test at a little out of the way sports shop. I get 2-3 years of worry free use per spool by reversing it each year. | |||

| I use my Tuf-line + for one season only!Reverse spools at half season!Power-pro did`nt fair to well for me so I will be staying with Tuf+!But just started testing Whip-lash and seem to like it better then PP.#80,#65 was a little to thin for me! Jeff | |||
