Seems like lately there's been some scammers, possibly the same person under different user names listing high end and hard to find lures on here at extremely suspiciously low prices, one thing they all have in common is they are usually registered very recently and only want friends and family payments- be careful I see they are at it again!

Three years ago I was taken, should have seen it coming the person made a brand new account the night before then I paid Pay Pal friends and family so no rebates. Steve blacked balled them. Found the same lure on this sight six months ago from a regular poster. I also buy some used lures on E-bay.

I THINK I deleted all the scammy looking threads, please let me know if I missed any.

General rule: if they're a day old around here and all of a sudden they're selling stuff at amazing prices....it's a scam.

Hiya,

If someone says paypal only using friends and family, I will offer to pay the extra 3% to pay using goods and services, which gives you protection from the scam. It may take a month to get your money back, but in most cases, the scam seller has no leg to stand on, thus you get your money back. The extra $1 - 2 is worth it in my book.

My Pay Pal account was hacked a couple years ago and while I was not out any money, have never used since then.

The scammers have been relentless lately on this page and the FB musky groups. They have been getting pretty good though at listing baits people actually want and knowing the names of them, etc. To the point it almost makes me think they are actual musky fishermen trying to scam their peers. I hope that's not the case. Another big red flag (maybe more so on FB) is after you enter the email in PayPal, the name that comes up doesn't match their profile. Checking the profile to make sure they have some previous posts and at least a couple mutual friends is usually a safe bet. Asking them for a picture of the baits next to a piece of paper including their name and date is a good way to verify they are actually in possession of them too.

I have to approve all new users before they can post on any of the boards. Jeff Clayton just applied. Any suggestions as to how to screen new users? I delete several a month that are obvious scammers.

My wife is on a classic car site often since she does plastic part restoration and she had told me that you have to be a registered member for a certain length of time and have at least 25 posts in other sections of the site prior to being able to sell, that would probably discourage majority of scammers since they are looking for an instant buck with minimal investment.

I got scammed recently on Musky Flea on FB. Luckily it was only $30. I’m pretty much done buying from random people now unless I recognize their names.
