Posts: 216 Location: Rochester, New York | Got my new cashion inshore icon heavy action rod with a penn battle spinning reel and 100lb power pro though i plan to switch it to maxcuatro and was wondering your thoughts on tying the braid (pre-tied wire leader from stealth tackle) or if i should get some heavy duty mono for stretch or straight braid

Location: Athens, Ohio | I have used braided line with a Penn spinning reel for muskie and it worked just fine. Tie a good knot and find a big fish! m

You know I am honestly not 100% sure but some ideas were Rapala Super Shad Raps Giant Daredevles Over 1Oz Bucktails Possibly Topwater unlikely but possible This was mainly my setup for the big heavy expensive lures

Location: Athens, Ohio | There is a difference in leverage between a bait caster and a spinning rod. With the spinning rod, you have the hookset power essentially coming off your right wrist. With the caster, it's the whole left forearm. I like throwing rattlebaits and bucktails especially with a spinning set up since you can get the bait moving toward you just as soon as it hits the water. m

Posts: 2056 | I can’t imagine 100lb braid on a spinning reel will cast great… as others have said no need for a top shot muskie fishing, you don’t want stretch. Unless you plan to throw pounders and other huge baits 10oz+. … go with 40-65lb braid on spinning setups. I’ll go up to 65lb we chasing 200lb+ saltwater species ![]()

![]() Posts: 195 | I'd probably run 65lb. 100lb won't be fun for anything on a spinning reel.
