Hello All!!

My wife and I are looking to book a trip next summer on a remote Canadian "action" lake. We went to the All Canada Show this weekend, but we did not find what we were looking for at the show. We live in MN and have experience with large fish, however, next summer we want an action lake for our annual muskie trip.

We prefer a flyout (no crowds) lake that will provide multiple follows and muskies (weather permitting) during our stay. Any hints on lakes, best times of the year to go, outfitters, etc... would be appreciated. Feel free to send me a message or reply here for all the world to see.

Thank you in advance,

Don

Its not a fly-in, but try Fireside Lodge on Little Vermillion Lake (http://www.firesidelodge.com). Great folks there, great food, and tons of action.

Halley's camp on the English River has a lake they fly people to called Irregular lake. Was a write-up about it in a past ski magazine. I have stayed at Halley's before, topnotch place and the most awesome walleye fishing I have ever had.
Unfortuneatly the party i was with was after walleyes only and I didnt go to do the ski thing.
There is no camp there, they fly you in and out every day. Might get a bit pricey to do this everyday for a week, but worth checking it out anyhow.

Halley's was about 2 hrs north of Kenora (caribou falls camp)..the fly-out I believe is out of the One Man camp.

I believe Herbie also provides for an action lake upon request, doesn't he?

I would take a look at Indian Lake Lodge. I am amazed at the number of fish that come out of that lake every year. There are a few people from our chapter, and others, that visit this lake and return home with anywhere from 5-15 (5 is on the conservative side) fish more, sometimes the numbers are even better than that. If you seriously want an action lake, check this one out. If you are a member of Muskies Inc. check out the catch records of this lake. MANY multiple fish days. Here's the website: www.indianlakelodge.com. Hope this helps!

Herbie does have "drive to" action lakes from AML.  Look at www.andymyerslodge.com for more information.  Two years ago my son and I spent a day on one of his lakes.  A guided July trip, we saw 100+ fish (no exaggeration) and boated 11.  Nothing big, but lots of fun, all on topwaters.  Highly recommended.

Keep the recommendations coming!! AML is always an interesting option. What is the action like at AML during July or August? How are the guides (as far as consistent for muskie), and would you suggest hiring a guide for the entire week?

Any other suggestions for strictly fly-in muskie lakes in Canada?

Thanks again,

Don

July and august are a great time at AML.Herbie runs one of the best programs out there ,The muskie guides are top notch guys ,(with the pacience of Jobe)..!! work their buts off to get you on fish, all sorts of alternatives available if Eagle is not going, or you have a blow day.I don't feel you would need a guide the whole week ,espesially july and august ,because you don't have to travel far for for Fish.Have been going there for 5 years sometimes a couple of times ,and never had a complaint.Seen some whales caught, and have had good action on eagle, some of the times ,Eagle can be Btch sometimes also. But plenty of action lakes within a 10 to 15 minute drive from camp,I personally take alot of guide dates because I have to run the boat the rest of the year 'and its nice to just fish and not have to worry about everything else.Cabins are nice CLEAN,and well maintained. Hope this helps ARTIE
