Seemed like a 100 boats on the Cave on Friday (and the action was slow) Was sat/sun any better ? I know there had to be even more boats on the weekend as compared to friday. Any comments about the weekend would be appreciated. I lost 1 fish on thurs fishing with firstsixfeet and lost one with mikie on friday. Take Care and God Bless All ManitouDan

Decks open for the rest of the month up until the 29th of October. I will probably fish most days, unless my wife really comes up with some creative ideas to interfere with my plans or threatens me bodily. Big boat, and sometimes I even have a clue.

I will let anybody that comes down to fish, take a few casts in Doug Johnson Memorial Cove, before it is closed to the public on January 1st.
The Doug Johnson Memorial Musky should be hitting 40" and about 20 lbs. by that time.

Got to watch an incredible face to face battle between Manitou Dan and an acrobatic specimen last week. Short, but entertaining. MD was able to get 2/3 of his body outside the boat to try and hang onto the fish, very agile display by both he and the fish. I think it was at one of my secret Cave Run spots, or at least that's the way I remember it...

Dang, I still can't hang a fish on that lake. Mauser had two going Saturday and a solid strike on Sunday, just couldn't get them to eat. It was one of the pleasures of my life to get to fish with you, Dan; let's get one in the boat next time!
Yeah, we saw Dave on the water, he was asking about you guys and wants you to contact him to go fishing; something about e-mails he sent ya came back undelivered. You can find his contact info on Tony's website: http://kymuskie.com (plug). m

Hey firstsixfeet -- the one I lost on friday with mikie was from the spot in ramey you said you would not pass up if you were guiding. Just wanted to let you know it nearly paid off. Fish I lost was close to size of the one we had on thursday. I did the old double hook set on this one but he still escaped a photo session. Mikie was ready to dip but I played the fish alittle more and the hooks came loose as the fish changed directions, no aerial display this time. Take Care ManitouDan

Dannie boy,

No need for a double hook set, nail her once and thats enought!
The double hook set will cause the hooks to move, create a bigger hole, or pull the lure out of the mouth.

Put the wood to her once, and that should be enought.

Hey Mike -- After losing fish on my last 2 trips I was paranoid. I tend to not be a guy who nearly knocks his partner out of the boat with the first hook set (like my bro does) so I did apply a 2nd thump to that fish. It seems like you can boat a dozen straight but once a jinx sets in you are just screwed. going back to my last canada trip I guess thats 4 in a row i've "water" released. But like I said before that I boated nearly every fish I contacted including several on a 8. Oh well as long as I don't lose the big momma I won't cry too loudly. You coming down to the cave before the thanksgiving get together ? I'm kinda bummed out -- as mikie was taking me back to the boat dock at warix my rod/reel bounced out of the boat.(at about 60 MPH) A 120 $ st criox and a 300 $ calcutta 400 -- We looked fovever for it, I thought St Criox's were supposed to float but no dice , lost my fav' rod and reel. Send donations to ........ ah forget it ManitouDan

Dan, ya broke my heart twice that day, (and, we were only goin about 55); I did two more passes over the area looking, looking, then went to drift the Flats. so sorry, I'm looking for a RodSaver that will install next to the seat for passengers who don't anchor their rigs. Hope your daughter's birthday party went well, take care, m

Another Ohio Blow Job!!

I told Mikie that boat was just too dang fast for sub orbital use...

Sorry to hear of your loss Dan. When Mikie comes down here at the end of the month I am going to make him sit right in the jet stream of the 20 mile an hour wind my speedboat can create. He better hold on tight!

Luckily my hat floats. But as a warning to anyone gracing mikie's gambler. Hold on TIGHT!
